He’s a bright spot..

OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the game last night between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders. The Habs lose this game in a shootout.. However there are a couple of positives to take away. Cole Caufield continues to find ways to score.. and Logan Mailloux scores the very first goal of his career! Lets break this one down!

  1. Barron needs to go. Ive been saying it since he started playing for Montreal, he's bad. Constantly turns over the puck and zero physicality. Im sick and tired of them playing him like he's doing perfectly fine..

  2. I thought Primeau had an excellent game last night. Isles could've easily run away with it in the 3rd when the boys decided to go on a never ending parade to the box.

  3. My TOTs are… I am ok with them losing and learning this year, but it would be good to see them learn how to win too. Also, good for Cole Caufield, and I hope it wears off on some of the others!!!

  4. I would really expect more effort, skating and physicality from such young team. They look like a boys' team in a men's league. Hard to watch those games as a fan.

  5. They will break Montembeault this season all because they won't cut ties with the worst back up in the Eastern Conference in Primeau. Goaltending is the only angle the Canadians are not improving in simply because of this nonsense that keeps Primeau around. Montembeault won't develop and then guess what, you have 0 then. What was he doing on the 1st and 3rd goals last night? Especially the 3rd. The original shot might as well have gone in for all the reaction he had for making that save.

  6. Except for caufield. They're really struggling putting the puck in the net. Suzuki and dach are still scoreless in 6 games. On this pace they'll be worse than last year

  7. I love how everybody gets mad at Wi-Fi for taking penalties and you watch that outing when he’s not in the lineup. I’d rather him take penalties than everybody else because at least he hurts people when he does.

  8. Everyone dumps on Baron, knowing more than Crosby, who said Col. shouldn't have traded him. Just look at the Col. small-porous defense this year. Baron is an offensive threat (skating and shooting) but is getting more physical using his good size. Lately, his plus/minus and hitting stats are good, unlike some of his peers. Projected as a top 4 on any NHL team…like Sergachev he will mature elsewhere and have great success before the Habs get back in the playoffs. He is humble and open about what he is working on, right now its defensive-zone footwork, as he said in an interview. This open growth mindset is refreshing. For future playoff success, Logan M., Cayden G., David 'bacher, J. Baron will be the top 4 if the Habs want to compete in the playoffs. Arber and Hutson will be 5 & 6 and if they mature as projected, could slide up. Except for Guhle, when contracts are up any could be moved.

  9. Shoot outs gotta go. Hockey is a team sport.

I'll take ties over shoot outs any day. There is a reason this rule doesn't follow into the playoffs.

  10. Personally, Justin Barron has been a defensive liability since day ONE. Last night is the worst I've ever seen from him.
Like, management has to see it too, right?!
As far as I'm concerned, Barron should be in Columbus, and Jordan Harris playing with Matheson. 💯

  11. Hutson's at a disadvantage in out muscling, checking, board battling, protecting the net front etc = stick infractions because he defends with his stick and especially when in an unideal position.
Cole one-times his own rebound, should of got an assist too LOL,
They were down 2-0, Primeau didn't unravel and they made a game out of it taking a point, there's that.
One thing, don't stop playing until the whistle is blown.

  12. I only finished watching 2 games so far (Sens and Leafs), I always fell asleep halfway in the second when they start getting stupid penalties and Matheson starts doing Matheson things to screw us up.

  13. I was looking at PIMs last night because I am getting tired of this crap, and surprisingly although don't know if last night was added at the time we are only in the middle of the pack. That being said though you look at the Islanders and they have half our amount. I know we are still a "young" team, but we need to start gaining some discipline. Especially if we are going to just dump and chase the puck all game. I love the Habs, but they are frustrating right now.
