Flyers Daily with Jason Myrtetus: Week one of the Flyers Season has passed and Bill Meltzer joins for his weekly visit to look back at the first 5 games. We discuss some of the issues plaguing the team early on and also take on Flyers Fans #AskBilly Questions. We also look ahead to an important week ahead as the Flyers try and get things moving in the right direction.

  1. Its a bad roster, smallish, slowish, and devoid of any grit or muscle. Very few good passers and even less good shooters. The defense might be the leagues worst and the goaltending is so-so at best. Torts postgame reaction tells it all. Game after game he very calmly explains that they just were outplayed. He knows what this team is. They dont have the horses. Simple.

  2. All off your rant is laced with truth however the honest fact of the matter is it's only the start of year 3 of the rebuild and they are one of the youngest teams and will need some work yet before most of these players hit there potential! And they haven't even reached the point in the rebuild where like the Rangers and Panthers where they can add a few star players financially! Way to early to be this critical 5 games in!!! Yes I don't like it and expected better but this too shall pass!

  3. Why give him the C if the coach is embarrassing him? I feel a trade coming on. Torts needs to play Nic, we need some muscle in the lineup, young guys are getting pushed around too much.

  4. October/November hockey is usually dreadful, so no surprise here.
All teams take the first 20‐25 games to tinker and figure things out.
Long season, lots of games to play.

  5. Man, I started following more media with the michkov hype and now I’m reminded why I never listen to Philly sports radio. Nobody needs to listen to a stuffy nosed bill meltzer being pessimistic about a start of a season in a road trip with a rebuilding team. It’s just mind numbing.

  6. we should stop kidding ourselves. couturier doesn't belong in the nhl anymore.

if you took away the history and just judge the current player, the dude would be in the AHL. His contract will haunt the flyers for years and withhold them from achieving any sort of success
