The OKC Thunder Might Win 70 Games

The Oklahoma City Thunder might be your preseason title pick and you could still be underrating them, they are that good. OKC got the first seed last year led by MVP candidate Shai Gilegous-Alexander and in this young cores first playoff run they made the second round before barely losing to the Western champions, well in the offseason they added Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein, two of the best role players in the league, while their young trip of Shai, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams just got even better. This is one of the deepest teams in the league and has looked amazing in the preseason, they could be historically good this season, even 60 or 70 wins could be a possibility.

  1. 60 wins should definitely be in the goal for them this year. They're probably a year and a big trade away from being 70 win level. They should be tough, though.

  2. The Giddey/Caruso trade was idiotic and that will become very apparent within the first 6 weeks now that Hartenstein is out and it's pretty much an even swap. This team is basically the same as last year but it's going to be Caruso out there instead of Giddey and they're going to struggle until Hart joins back up. Meanwhile Giddey will average close to a triple double in Chicago and will have an incredible season. OKC is going to be very sorry they traded him.

  3. Any team winning 70+ has only happened twice in modern league history, once by MJ Bulls and once by Curry Warriors. This just doesn't happen unless your team is completely dominant in every way possible, and has an all time top 10 player. Celtics was completely dominant last year, and they are by all means still better than OKC, and they won 64.

  4. Good analysis overall. One observation: You were showing Chet highlights while talking about Jalen Williams and showing Jalen highlights when talking about Chet Holmgren.
