So from time to time we can get shut out goaltending. Sure hope it can hold up enough this year.

The system doesn’t work. It never did. We have too many offensive power to play dump and chase and sit back in the zone relying on our goaltenders.
Lalonde’s system just doesn’t work. If it wasn’t for strong performance by our goalies, this team could easily be 1-5 or even 0-6.
The team is was lucky that Lyon had a great night because you're going to lose a lot of games with 1 goal on 10 shots.

Jesus that was just a hard game to watch. One shot essentially through the first, zero threat what so ever or any offensive sustained threat. Ugly brand of hockey this year so far no excitement what so ever. What ever it is they need to figure this shit out fast or we are missing the playoffs again this year 100%.
Last time they won a game with a measly 11 shots was 1959. Hope GM is looking for an NHL coach. This clown 🤡 show can’t be sustained.

Dump and chase doesn't work. Our one goal came when we carried the puck in. We're also, like Kane said, so focused on defense we forget we have offensive minded players. Our best defense is playing in the O-zone. We're spending no time in our O-zone. 10 shots a game will not win games here. It was the worst game I seen this team play in a while. Last thing. How are our lines supposed to build chemistry when they're constantly being shuffled? It's like every shift is a new line together. Last thing. How are our boys supposed to build chemistry when the lines are constantly being mixed? Every shift seems to be a new line.

When you’re not drawing penalties you’re not working hard enough. What is the ozone system? Lose all board battles 1 vs 2? No forecheck present. Giving too much time to opposition in the defensive zone to pick their play instead of forcing them to make one. How have we not fixed these glaring issues yet coach? It’s been too long. I’ll take the win but holy frick get a grip. The kids look great out there! Kasper helps the lineup so much.
They have been focused on trying to defend properly. They are learning that. Now that they have it figured it out, they can start focusing on the offense

i had suspected here as these games went on that Derek Lalonde DID something this training camp in the coaching emphasis and strategy that resulted in his offense being destroyed, and all his best offensive players being ruined. it seemed clear everyone was now hyperfocused on being 'defensively responsible' and it had ruined the offense. Kane confirms this w his answer 1 minute in, where you can see he chooses his words carefully bc he knows he is trashing Lalonde to the media and saying something that may reverberate in the room. this is a player who does not generally speak thru the media in a way to send messages or cause controversy, he is a good soldier who follows orders and is quiet – but he is obviously fed up w the coaching and is speaking for the whole team right there. this coach is on thin ice imo. he needs to let his skill players play offense.
That was one of the worst NHL games I've ever watched but I'll take the ugly win and a shut out. Nobody apart from Lyon stood out. Very lethargic and Seider was pretty brutal as times.
This was a horrible game. Extremely frustrating to watch.
I think Lalonde is holding this team back, this team feels like it’s in survival mode 2 weeks into the season. This system looks warn out and there’s no energy out there.

I know Yzerman would like to stick to the guy he hired and it work out but holy crap the eye test sucks. You think Newsy would be saying the same things about a solid defensive performance if Lyon let in say 2 goals? Does he like the defense in front of lyon then? Cmon man that game looked like a penalty kill for 60 minutes. Constantly defending and guys standing still.Shift after shift in the defensive zone. Maybe the players are young and need more game time to grasp the details in the system but maybe its the coaching? PP sucks 1 guy at the point ain't the look. The Nashville win i thought masked problems cause we shouldn't have won that either. The D very rarely skate the puck out for a breakout they just stop moving feet behind goal line and look up the boards. Neutral zone rushes are always 1 level with no gaps or speed. Im bummed with the hockey im seeing despite these important wins that are important.
11 shots on goal and 19 giveaways. Realistically they should be 0-5 if not for goaltending.

Wow, which coach should we be looking at? The Wings should be on FIRE with the expectations they have this season. WTH is happening? At least Kasper is playing…. we need Danielson and maybe Mazer up too. Let the youth rage and learn from Kane and company.
