Santi Aldama led Memphis with 27 points and 5 rebounds as Ja Morant (22 points, 10 assists) and Desmond Bane (24 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) added 46 points. Zach Edey totaled 5 points and 5 rebounds in just under 15 minutes of play prior to fouling out in his pro debut. Lauri Markkanen shot 9-15, including 4-7 from deep for 35 points and 9 rebounds as Walker Kessler added 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Kessler now has 20 career games with 5 or more blocks. Since being drafted in 2022, only Victor Wembanyama (24) and Brook Lopez (22) have more.
The Grizzlies improve to 1-0 as the Jazz move to 0-1.
