Boston Bruins Game 8 Recap | Montgomery on the Hot Seat?

Boston Bruins Game 8 Recap | Montgomery on the Hot Seat?

The Boston Bruins lost 5-2 to the Dallas Stars, and undisciplined play cost them again. Dallas scored 3 goals on the powerplay, and even though David Pastrnak got the Bruins on the board first, they seemed to never be in the game.

After the game, Bruins media quickly wrote up articles saying Montgomery is on the hot seat, and I think it’s pretty close.

In this video, I break down the Bruins 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. To stay up to date on all Bruins news, be sure to check out the channel.

  1. they are going to run swayman into the ground. boy do they look bad. endless stupid penalties and horrible special teams. very bad passing. they keep dusting off pucks instead of just whacking it at the net. thats how shit goes in.

  2. The bruins problems are far too many to list right now. And the whole "lots of new faces" excuse doesn't work anymore. Penalty trouble and turnovers are the most glaring issues (along with both special teams), but you also have lots of guys just flat-out not performing. Coyle, Geekie, Marchand, Brazeau are all off to terrible starts. I'd also even loop Zacha in the bunch. Marchand is definitely starting to show his age, and his recovery timeline from the 3 offseason surgeries are definitely playing a role. While I agree that Monty changing the lines almost every period over the last 9 games doesn't help; I think we are finally at a point where the undeniably poor drafting from Sweeney, and his willingness to trade first round draft picks is finally taking it's toll. Boston has been graded as having the worst prospect pool for at least the 4th year in a row; and if you are going to trade a Vezina winning goaltender (especially to a division rival) the draft pick you get back needs to be higher than mid 20's. The likelihood of that prospect actually hitting is less than 10%.

Lastly, I'll say the "leadership" of this team is completely gone. The Bergeron/Chara leadership and willingness to take significantly below market value in order to field a competitive team are gone. Sure, McAvoy and Pasta probably took less than market value, but not nearly to the degree Bergy and Chara did. And then the Swayman contract just proved that most players on the team now are out for themselves. As long as they get paid, they don't care if the team is good; and Bergy was never about that. Each passing year since he retired, the culture of the team is changing for the worse.

  3. I needed that Jamie Benn laugh this morning… Pasta needs to be a healthy scratch for a game just to send a message he’s taking so many stupid penalties.

  4. Well said can't disagree with anything you've said here. I couldn't watch last night because it was gf's bday and I was watching the app occasionally and seeing the PPG against just told me it was just more of the same undisciplined play.
