  1. Cossa has never been off track. He was seen as needing more work than someone like a Wallstedt but had great tools that gave him a higher ceiling. He's made steady progress. He has a slow start with each new league and quickly progresses to handling it well. <important conditional>If his track record continues </important conditional>, he'll be ready for backup work next season and could be pushing for shouldering starter work in year two.

  2. Hard to argue with who is in the top five. Danielson deserves some love, but I'm not sure how to fit him in. Kasper is making me question if everyone's stated ceiling for him might've been a little low which then puts him in contention with Danielson. Augustine might be the one to drop if you HAD to find a place for Danielson, but he's been doing so well at MSU and for Team USA that it is hard to deny him as well. Maybe MBN? But he seemed on par with Danielson in preseason.

I do think ASP is the most exciting prospect even if not the top, though. He makes magic happen, and he will stop the madness with the Ghost Bear / Gustafsson saga hopefully.

  3. I really hope to see an in-depth dive into ASP's game after his season is done in Skelleftia. The kid has all the potential in the world. He is just so exciting to watch. He's so silky. Like I'm just as hyped about him as I was for Mo Seider.

  4. Without any assessment of rank 1 to 5, these are my top 5.
    G: Cossa
    D : ASP
    D: Shai Buium
    F: Danielson
    F: Dmitri Buchelnikov

What above 5 prospects all have in common that they have a higher ceiling which makes it justified to be in the conversation about the top 5. The other thing they have in common is unique DNA from their own roots that are not Nordic or Swedish (I am Swedish).

In addition to these small things, they are also individual players who are not already found in the RW organization. Few Fans think about it, that RW doesn't have 2 copies of the same type in their system. This means that their draft logic of choosing the best player available means that RW has higher odds that any of their drafted prospects will succeed in reaching the NHL in general. Very few who are taken in the first round end up in the NHL, the odds are not on the prospect's side there.

RW has tons of talent that range from average to slightly above average. RW completely lacks an elite prospect or you call it "bluechip prospect" as skaters are concerned. I 100% agree on that assessment.

MBN is a good example of over hype prospect by RW many fans. MBN has never played at a higher level than the 2nd Div in Sweden. He will do one season in the SHL (the highest league in Sweden), give him time and lets see whats he does as an 21 year old (19 today). RW has time on his side, because the team today is nothing to write home about. There are glimmers of light e.i Kasper playing in RW now as an prospect, why his not on my list anymore.

The most overhyped prospect is Elmer Soderblom. Today a 23-year-old Swede who will soon have to prove if he has something of quality to add to the NHL and RW as an organization. Burger is also a player type that is unique in the RW system, however he will probably be traded at TDL together with another player. Neither of the two fits into the system that RW has today.

As a Swede, I care more about Canadians and players born in the US. The US youth program is world-leading if we are talking about U16 to U18. It is no coincidence that many players taken in the first round are US born and RW has none of these drafted into their system 🙁
