The Disturbing True Story of the Worst Coach in Canucks History

In this video, I dive deep into Mike Keenan’s disturbing and controversial tenure with the Vancouver Canucks. I start by discussing the circumstances that led to his arrival, then explore his harsh, dictatorial coaching style, resulting in multiple clashes with players. Next, I cover his short stint as general manager, which saw the heartbreaking trades of several beloved Canucks legends. Finally, I wrap up with how his reign ended, ultimately brought down by Brian Burke.

  1. I saw Mess play ▶️ in Canucks uniform …excellent skater …36 year old Mess …I wasn't impressed with game …Linden heart guy, nice leader to have, but #16 was never more than 2nd line center …they only take your team so far🏒

  2. He is one of the few people in this world I would punch if I ever seen him and he was never even a coach for my team the Wings I knew his stinking reputation since he was with the Blackhawks

  3. Its really all Messiers fault. If the Rangers would have just blown that 94 Cup Finals to Vancouver, Keenan would have been an assistant and never given 5 MORE HEAD COACHING JOBS!

  4. I do think it's pretty ironic that Burke blasted how Keenan treated players, when Burke himself pulled a total scumbag move on Peter Zezel.

That said, Keenan and Messier deserve all the hate they get from Vancouver

  5. You got an instant like and subscribe for this fantastic video of the era when I stopped watching Canucks hockey. Keenan was a bastard who destroyed a championship team. Messier was the biggest disappointment to ever come to Vancouver.

  6. Keenan thought that he was never wrong and was the most important person on the team. He did not know the difference between discipline and abuse. Sometimes a team needs a coach to whip them into shape, but power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Teams that gave Keenan that power could momentarily improve, but it would not last. Keenan crapped on players because he liked it and he could, and not because it would improve the player. Screw you, coach.

  7. Keenan won a Stanley Cup and Lead Canada to its most impressive victory in history in the 87 Canada Cup. He was completely wrong about Dominic Hasek. He knew what it took to win and thats what the game is about.

  8. The disaster which has been the Canucks is neither Keenan’s nor Messier’s fault. You bring in guys like that into the environment that was a dumpster fire and its their fault🤔NO

  9. I remember there was a period when Keenan was trading People every few days. Basically, dismantled the beloved 1994 team.
No idea why Mess came to Vancouver? He had other good offers. The Griffiths were decent People, after that?
