30 People protesting in person > 30,000 people complaining on the internet
I still keep tabs on baseball and I track the Pirates more than any other team, but I've lost all excitement for the game. No point in caring in the slightest about the team I support if they themselves don't care. So I don't go to games, don't buy merch, only occasionally look at the box scores, and maybe watch 3 or 4 innings streaming a year. I used to be a baseball fanatic. If I was near Pittsburgh, I'd have joined the protest. Would be nice to have some hope at least. Can't have any hope with this owner.
Hey, protests start small. Greta Thunberg protested by herself for months. Next thing you know, 500,000 people were following her.
Good for Canyon! After some discussion last week, its been decided our profits from "sell the team" merch will go towards social media ads in the spring (discontent disguised as merch ads).
As an out of town Pittsburgh fan, I'm not able to protest in person, so I sometimes write comments. Either make winning a priority, or PLEASE sell the team Mr. Nothing!
Opening Day could be a statement. 35,000 people show up, but no one goes inside the game.
This idea may sound off the wall, but I wonder how many Pirate fans there are in each state in the U.S. Wouldn't it be something if a date was chosen and Pirate fans could protest in their own state on that same day?
I live out of state, and my circumstances are complicated enough that I've only made it to PNC once. It was in early August this year when Keller pitched against the Diamondbacks– luckily, the Pirates won that game. (The Pirates' 10-game losing streak began the very next day, so I actually considered myself very lucky at the time.)
Anyway, perhaps someone else has already come up with this idea– if so, I missed it somehow. It might be difficult to coordinate, but it could be quite meaningful in many ways for Pirate fans.
