The Seattle Seahawks have an excellent defense in one key area that they almost never get to use

It’s quite an ironic hell.

  1. Curious what he means by that comment. Having a vanilla defense will have our defense be exploited. I liked what we were showing during the preseason and against the Broncos

  2. Just seems like every year this Defense can't get it done. We get new players same thing. So hopefully it's a quick fix, but I have my doubts, it will be an interesting year or so.

  3. What needs to be pointed out is that Dremont Jones and Leonard Williams are both being paid lile high level probowl players and they consistently disappear in games. Bad signings by Schneider.

  4. "…you don't have the linebackers to overcome difficulties up front."
The thing is… we shouldn't be having the difficulties up front to begin with. We have 2 interior d-lineman that make a combined $30M (40?) a year and a third that was the best run defender in the draft and gets double-teamed. We've got one of the best pair of edges in the league. We've even got capable secondary blitzers. We knew our linebackers were going to get targeted all year. We knew they were the weak link. We all said many times that good coaches like Shanahan and McVey and Ben Johnson are going to know exactly how to exploit them. It's Macdonald's job to not let them get exploited by using our defense's strengths. The salary cap is the NFL's great equalizer. You have this much money to spend and where do you want to spend it? We could have had a Roquan Smith if we weren't paying Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs $30M this year, but everyone wanted to go for it.

  5. It’s very easy to change the way you align so the LBers and DLine have fewer responsibilities and can play faster. The risk goes up a little bit but the speed of reaction does too, I’m just not totally sure that works with a 3-4 base concept as well when your outside LBers are more pass rushers than run defenders…but you bunch the Dline to the strong side so they only have one gap, rotate the LBers to the opposite side so they only have one gap, and boom fewer reads. Problem is you’re man-ed up on each edge so only one guy has a chance to make a tackle if the play goes to either edge, and you’re LBers better be able to get off blocks if the play goes up the middle. Conceptually it’s not hard, execution…I dunno.

  6. With Baltimore, Mac played with a lead almost ALL the time. With this current offense under Grubb, we're playing from behind 24/7… Grubb doesn't belong in the NFL..

  7. We knew there would be wrinkles . I am of the opinion we should stay the course. It appears we are moving in the right direction. Need another off season to bring in the necessary pieces as well as The coaching staff getting a season under the belts .

  8. What trips me up is the fact that other teams have young players on defense and implemented a new scheme and they look alright. We look like straight shit even with a defensive guru, young studs on defense, and a few vets that still got it. I believe a turnaround is coming but damn this is frustrating!

  9. It’s scheme. The way Mac wants the front 7 to play requires true NT, massive men up front that don’t move and truly eat and absorb blocks. Our Dline has talent, but lacks 1-2 true anchors in the middle of the defensive line. Idk how you fix other than continuing to address the front 7. I wonder if we were to be in 4-3 with bigger edges on early downs and 3 linebackers on the field.. maybe that would fix the run d but idk man.

  10. This has to be the worse Seattle Defense in years. They need to look for secondary and LB help this off season. The corners they have aren't good enough under this system
