  1. You articulated my exact thoughts better than I ever could. This is exactly why I wanted them to go after Tobias Harris and Pat Bev last year, specifically when there were rumors circulating around Jerami to Philly.

I feel the same way about the Blazers vets on the court as well… a huge part of each of their value is “ball go in hoop”. None of them are exactly known as guys who do the dirty work or little things. Are those the things that translate best to vet mentorship? I don’t know. But I’d sure think they would

  2. Ay man! I sent you this idea in a mailbag question!
"Is it possible Scoot is struggling because he doesn't have a veteran mentor that can show him how to unlock his potential? If so, who could the Blazers acquire to do that for him?"
    Give me credit, Mike!

  3. This episode made me think how could teams be encouraged to bring on vets. I Would love the idea of a veteran exemption where you could have 1 or 2 players on your team that doesn't count towards cap or roster size for players over a certain age and or years of playing. Example players who have played a minimum of 7 years and are over the age of 33 can sign a contract up to 3 million per year without impact to a teams roster size or cap with a limit of 2 of these players per team. I think this would be incredible for the league with all of the mentorship being provided along the way. Will the NBA see this message and be like oh ya let's get the union in we need to make a change? Probably not but I genuinely love a direction along these lines.

  4. Mike Richman I just wanted to point out that Chris Paul was in a similar circumstance to the Blazers with the Washington Wizards last season, and he practically demanded to be traded rather than take an "uncle's" role. I guess this suggests that seasoned veterans with NBA playoff and championship prestige have their own criteria for mentoring young teams.

  5. Can we get a real coach as well that might help??.. is anyone seeing how the jazz are playing all its young guys benching Collins??? Jazz brings its best players Collins Clarkson off the bench makes the youngsters and tank priority, blazers and its fans to focused on trying to win, today is about development.. maybe scoot will develop better for people who thinks he stinks? Putting him in starting lineup?? No excuses Rupert Banton getting no burn

  6. Am I missing something?? Is ant grant even ayton a vet?? The voice should be the coach that might be the biggest problem?? Maybe if we actually had and offense would help??
