It’s volume in the run game that’s lacking. Considering the matchup they should have featured two backs with Walker and Charbonnet vs the Bills. I don’t think they ran the ball a dozen times in the entire game. Grubb is definitely on thin ice with the fans if not Macdonald and the front office.
They arent blitzing because they dont need to due to how bad our OL is outside of Cross

Thed Lions have the most entertaining offense in the league.
They don't have to blitz because our O line sucks so much. Teams have figured out that they're better off covering everyone down field and leaving their defensive lines to penetrate to get at Geno. Our O line also has not enabled us to make use of one of the best running backs in the game.
We are under reconstruction at the moment. Pretty much we have a bunch of gruff, cursing guys stomping around with a port a potty in the lawn. This year is ugly, and it's not gonna stop until the House of Mac is remodeled. What we are seeing in the moment is not what it will look like once he's got what he wants. I feel bad for the guys who are trying hard and getting no fruit… I'm starting to think they're keeping Bradford and Tomlinson in there to build up their resume. Not that it looks good 😒 But I think we're gonna lose a bunch of dudes and might have to go thru this again next year… Hopefully not quite as painfully. But this happens with change, and we had a great big change! It's our turn to be patient and not be a bandwagon fan 👍 Although in this year where we're not going anywhere, it would be great to see the Lions go get a ring✌️
No….Maybe other teams didn't blitz but he was still pressured. It's the OL. They can't handle any pressure. Watch the film. Hesstill scrambling. This isn't the correct way to look at the stats. The OL is soooo bade means dint have to blitz to get to the QB. Last Gane Geno went 9 for 9….92 yards and the center hiked the ball 19 ft over Genos head. Next play…the center steps on Geno and he goes down. So no it isn't Geno. It's the OL. Can't stop the run is the problem
Same ol' story with the Hawks. O and D lines are terrible. I'm not the first to say any of this but teams don't need to blitz. The Hawks aren't able to establish the run, probably due to a combination of not committing to it early and poor blocking. They get behind the chains and then can't keep the pocket clean–Geno is getting harassed constantly with four-man rushes and unless he's climbing the pocket he doesn't seem to be very accurate. I think they need to commit to the run so the lineman can at least fire off and get some momentum and backs generally need 10+ carries just to get going. Plus it rests your defense and keeps the other team's O off the field. Also they need to extend the run game with more screens and short passes, then exploit 8-12 yard option routes with Njigba, Shenault and TE's. Hopefully that can set up play-action. The defensive line and linebackers look bad too. Opposing backs often aren't even touched until the third level. D-line needs to slow them down to help the linebackers but they are a struggling group as well. Not very fast nor able to hold their ground and fight through blocks. I like McDonald and believe he will get them sync'd up on D and more consistent, but offensively he (whether it's him making the call or giving Grubb too much slack) puts more pressure on everything by irrationally going for 2 point conversions or attempting 4th downs way too early and when it's a one possession game. That will murder consistency at any level, especially the NFL.

Geno is still under hella pressure tho. No oline and no run game.
Its are o line they don’t need to blitz that’s also why we can’t run the ball at all so now we are one dimensional there not dare us to throw they know that what we have to do bad o line and not sure if grub can dial up run plays anyway no experience in the nfl he was a pass happy coordinator in college because the o line is still the same as last year was bad but not this bad so he has to take some blame.
And there all players pete mostly brought here this is still a Pete Carrol team there could not stop the run with him there can’t this year it’s gonna take some time Mike be able to get his kinda guys that fit his system this is gonna take a few years remember Pete only won 7 games his first two seasons they had really ugly games the rams beat the breaks off us Pete’s second year the third year things clicked
