108 Years Later: The Cubs Snap The Longest World Series Drought EVER!

For the longest time, there was no professional sports team as hopeless as the Chicago Cubs.

Following the Cubs’ consecutive World Series titles in 1907 and 1908, multiple generations of Chicagoans were born and returned to dust waiting for another championship.

World wars were waged. Empires fell. Man walked on the moon. Eventually, the century turned. And throughout it all, the Cubs’ misfortunes remained a constant: they were losers.

Until, finally, they weren’t.

  1. Back To The Future was off by one year. That movie predicted the Cubs winning in 2015. Crazy! They also predicted Miami getting a baseball team and they were correct.

  2. I went up by Wrigley the day after. All over the outside wall of the outfield and all over the sidewalk were messages written in chalk, and the Harry Caray statue by the center field bleacher gate was covered in green apples.
