Boston Celtics sweep Charlotte, Jayson Tatum moves on from Grant Williams foul

The Celtics were without Jaylen Brown and decided to go with “double big” lineup with Al Horford and Luke Kornet in the starting lineup. Jason Tatum and Payton Pritchard helped build a 21-point lead, but things got dicey in the third quarter. Enter Jrue Holiday with a clutch three-pointer to save the day.

Join John Karalis from Boston Sports Journal as he chats about the Celtics’ free throw magic, outscoring the Hornets 25 to 6. Plus, he dives into the Grant Williams incident and how the team just shrugged it off.

  1. LFG! What a night for Kornet too. I know we can’t look past ATL, but man I cannot wait for Wednesday. Kerr is going to hear it from the crowd and surprise surprise-Curry will be healthy. And what the FCK is going on in Philly? What a sh1tshow. Anyway enjoy your extra hour of sleep John.

  2. Yeah, I dunno on Grant either. Keeping on track and winning games is far more important, but I don't think a Tillman shoulder pick while Grant's crossing the lane would've been unwarranted. Maybe because it's Grant they cut him a tiny sliver of slack. My guess is the Hornets are on probation the rest of this season though–if there's any more chicanery like Friday night, think we'll see guns up.

  3. On the Postcast, yes, after the first game is was HARD to get it to pop up, even though I'd subscribed. Guess the algo didn't like it enough then.

  4. It's a different time, but Chief not getting even a foul called back then was for ONE reason: Laimbeer. Even the refs hated that guy, and they were well aware of all the sh*t he'd already gotten away with in that game. I love that memory more BECAUSE Chief wasn't ejected.
Bill Simmons wrote a hilarious piece many years ago–probably almost 20–he was at a game, and Laimbeer was there in some capacity as an analyst. Simmons and his dad were 2-3 rows behind him. At some point, the Bird Steal game from '87 was played on the broadcast, and Laimbeer had to watch it on his monitor. When it got to Bird making the steal and dish, Laimbeer had to look away and put his head down–still clearly haunting him 18ish years later. Right at that moment, Bill's dad said, "I still hate that guy." Good times!

  5. Yeah, who'd've thought that by Halloween, we'd already be talking about the potential demises of the Bucks and Sixers? And… was Brad on point with his Cavs predictions or what? Hell, even when the dude has one arm tied behind his back, he's STILL smarter than everyone else!

  6. I loves your take on the Grant situation! I also grew up watching 90's ball & I miss that aggression on the court. This C's team is very poised in everything they do. ☘️💚
