Dylan Larkin’s 2 power play goals elevates Detroit past Buffalo

The Detroit Red Wings won their rematch against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, in a fairly even back and forth game at even strength. The difference ended up being on special teams, where Dylan Larkin score both the Red Wings goals, giving him 7 on the season. But just as important to the win was goaltender Cam Talbot who made 31 saves, only allowing one goal. Detroit will be back in action Wednesday in Chicago. #LGRW

  1. Always happy to get a win, especially against a division rival… but I never come out of these wins feeling much better about the long term outlook. You can only play so many games being outshot badly and playing 70% in your own zone before the wheels fall off. Thank god for talbot and Lyon early on. LGRW

  2. I actually felt a little better about this game. Possession was pretty even through the first two periods, and even when Buffalo was pressing in the 3rd we had extended time in their zone. Berggren and Kasper applied consistent pressure, the D kept Talbot's sight lines clear, and we had plenty of high quality chances

  3. To BRIAN & SCOTT : I wpuld like to point out that the prpblem with this team is NOT how it is constructed or the goalies or the defencemen or any other nonsense. The elephant in the room the room is standing on the bench ! The proof is in the pudding. Your favorite player last year to critisize (SARC); Shane Gostibehere, has gone from a player who could be played in the offensive zone only (PP included) and for limited minutes. Now, Somehow in a few months time he has metamorphosized into a really good player for a team with a real NHL CALIBER coach. He's averaging (on a good team) approximately 19 minutes a game and is getting tons of goals and assist. This wing's roster looks pretty talented compared to many that we've had in the last few years; at least a mid tier team or better on paper. I keep seeing posters on all these blogs ripping into the poor talent of these players; and ourand our prospects; and our drafting, etc. Well I am calling bulls%#@ on that ! S.Y. HAS BROUGHT IN many players that have been really good on other teams and somehow people are wanting to believe that they ALL just overnight, lost there skill ? Reallyyy??? The problem is that this coach is an amateur. At this time, he is NOT an NHL caliber coach ! Our problem as fans is, we have enough talent on this team to progressss(FINALLY) and the team needs someone who can EFFECTIVELY bring out the young prospects talent and more importantly the talent of Kane Larken Chairot Rasmussen Valeno Mott ,etc !! We need a tried and tested vetran coach, who has some cup rings to DO IT RIGHT. News flash- Joel Quenneville's ears are burning ! PLEASE GET IT DONE STEVE !! The players cannot take it any longer and the fans(MOST Definitely) cannot take it any longer😢🥺😭😫!

  4. I keep saying that seperatly, Petry and Chiarot would be fine, but together they don't mesh well. Petry is forced to be the defensive defenseman on that pairing, something that he has never been in his career, because Chiarot can't help himself from going below the offensive zone faceoff circles and goal line. Give them both Defensive defensemen and I'm confident their analytics will be better. Petry can activate offensively more and Chiarot can do his wild mongoose thing and have an actual defensively steady partner be able to cover for him. Somebody like maybe an Albert Johansson and Justin Holl. Cause overall i think Petry's been better than Chiarot but must've pissed off the greek goddess of luck Tyche cause my god does bad luck just tend to find that man. Still my Messiah though.

  5. UNSUSTAINABLE …. OK, We were slightly better, however, if We play like this the rest of the year, then there isn t chance in haiti's we're making the playoffs this year….PERIOD !!! The sad truth is that right now we definitely have to talent on this roster to make the playoffs, maybe even win a round or two. There is no telling, once you get in there and get a HOT goalie.

Players were interviewed recently and they said that they hesitate an extra second (because they are not sure where the other players are at). So they HESITATE (=the kiss of death) and then look for thier teammates position. THIS IS A COACHING ISSUE ….HELLOOOO. The Defense does the exact same thing on every play especially the Zone exits, 3 out of 5 tries they seem to just throw the puck into an area and their teammate is NOT where he belongs. Like I said….COACHING ISSUE not a personnel issue !

  6. Think they need to swap Ed and Chiarot. It was adequate the end of last season and definitely better than currently having Chiarot and Petry on the 2nd pairing.
