  1. There's a scene in Moneyball where Billy Bean says to a room full of scouts who want to promote a certain player "If he's such a great hitter, then why doesn't he hit?" Meaning that what matters is what a guy does on the field. Cherrington seems to chase guys based on potential, not on proven results. He's got to show that he outsmarted the whole baseball world. in the meantime the Pirates have finished bottom of the division all but one year of his tenure.

  2. As a Pirate fan, I'm extremely frustrated (and disgusted) about the growing possibility that Bob Nutting won't clean house before the 2025 season begins– particularly because there isn't a single reason NOT to.

In my view, the lowest-hanging fruit in this Pirates organization are Travis Williams, Ben Cherington, and Derek Shelton. Bob Nutting has proven that hiring incompetent people (or people with the wrong experience) merely because it's "quick and easy" leads to the hiring of a larger number of incompetent people who also make simplistic and low-effort decisions. This organization seems to be drowning in a group mindset that's addicted to avoidance: the avoidance of facing difficult issues head-on, the avoidance of engaging in complicated problem-solving, and the avoidance of confronting the possibility that achieving franchise success may require a level of intelligence, skill, hard work, intuition, and a strong desire to improve that no one in Pirates management currently possesses. It's impossible to become a leader in any sport when WINNING isn't a key component of one's mindset or skill set.

It will be even more maddening if better decisions are intentionally (or even accidentally) made in relation to the Pirates' 2025 season simply because jobs are suddenly on the line. The culprits in this failed rebuild don't deserve another chance, and being "forced" to think outside the box really doesn't count– and it will just extract more examples of false behavior.

(And congratulations to Jared Triolo. I firmly believe he would hit better and much more consistently if he wasn't with the Pirates.)

  3. The Pirates have lost the Public Relations battle.
They need to make a move that says they want to win.
Start a movement “Why not Soto”
Stop playing, start doing the job.
    Quit the SHIT WORK
    Stop the shitty baseball

  4. Tristin Gray was part of the deal to get Corey Dickerson a legitimate MLB player. So why would they want this tomato can back? He's cheap and that's all that matters. He's likely o be brought up get 80 at bats hit .085 and finally DFAed out of the majors and over to Korea he goes.
