Tocchet's way is the Warriors' way, which eventually wins Stanley Cups. No softening up the team for Primadonnas! Warriors rise up to challenge and adversity, whereas Primadonnas look for excuses. Look at the play and effort of Hughes, Garland, and Sherwood who make nowhere near the money of Petterson! I still suggest they try a line with Petterson, Garland, and Sherwood- if Petterson can't get motivated playing with two motors like this then I suggest Petterson is too risky for the Canucks' franchise to commit the next 8 years to him at 11.6 million per season.

I really think things are gonna turn around for him soon. The boys seem very supportive of him, and even quinn hughes says he deserved that goal. Things like this will keep him playing the right way, and when he gets his confidence back, we will see shades of his old self.
Petey is being asked to play a style that is NOT his style .. This is not good
Remember boesers slumps it took getting him away from Pete and teaming him with miller to unlock him

Still gives lots of good combos for the next two lines

surrounding him with talented line mates? been there. done that. with EVERYBODY on the roster. if he can only succeed with elite players then he isn't elite. jake guentzel is elite. it doesn't matter who you put him with or what city he's in, he is lights out and he's making a lot less than 11.6.
I still think all of this is a re-alignment of Petey to his new play style. Growing pains. I see this like Kopitar or other pure scorers who have rounded out their games to help their teams win.
The 'Tocchet style doesn't suit Petey's game' theory doesn't really make sense as Petey was amazing during the first half of the season last year (under Toch)
I said that this contract would be an albatross around the Canucks neck from the moment it was announced.
Trade him and that contract while you still might be able to.
It all started 11 months ago with Petey having a 3 point game and Tocchet criticising his playing style. Pretty clear that Petey and Tocchet is not a fit and with this much water under the bridge one starts to ask whether Petey will ever be able to get back to being himself under Tocchet. You made a very valid point – good for You and well taken.

If a coach expects every player to play the same way he did, he's a terrible coach. LMAO. So you are going to ask Lemieux or Gretzky to hit and back check and fore check hard? HAHA. As a good coach, you try to get the best from each player with their style. You don't change their style to something they are not. Also Pastrnak got benched. Hint hint.
