2. Devils wanna win now and having two 20 year old dmen (Hughes and Nemec) in the lineup is not a recipe for success. Devils went out and got some vets (Dillon, Pesce, Kovasevic) and all have played great. Nemec has been squeezed a little but much like Seamus Casey he could use some seasoning in the AHL. Trading him for Reinbacher makes almost zero sense.

3. You’re probably gonna get heat for covering a nemec trade to the habs again, but I appreciate the coverage on the subject and look forward to more in the future.

4. Seamus Casey appears to be ahead of Nemec in the dept chart in New Jersey. Not such a far fetched rumour him coming to Montreal.

5. Habs would never make that deal. Nemec is weak defensively. Was an overreach at #2. Cannot play today in the NHL. Hence the Devils bringing in veterans. Not sure what you see in Nemec.

6. GM KYLE DUBAS should trade former Devil Ryan Graves back to the Devils for Simon Nemec. Graves has a $4.5 AAV and 5 years of contract security. Graves was a +34 on the Devils. Similarly Graves was a +40 on the Avs. Graves solves all the Devils problems and the Pens get younger under MISTER DUBAS leadership. Graves, a 2nd, and Anthony Beauvillier for Simon Nemec.

7. Yes but doesn't NJ wind up with the same problem a year later? They play the same position. If they can do it, I say go for it. Nemec has more offensive upside.

8. I think it's too early to give up on Reinbacher. I don't have a problem with Montreal bringing in Nemec, but I think they'd have to do something like Barron, Dvorak, and a pick. Maybe retain salary. Otherwise, I don't see Montreal doing that

9. Id much rather have nemec then reinbacher, id be good with that trade, as long as they dont expect a 1st round pick with reinbacher.

    Re: Preds:
    1. All of their top "F" and their 3 top "D" are over 30 yo!!!!
    2. Trots probably isn't going to do a full rebuild BUT a retool could be an option. He would definitely need to get some of the no move guys to change their minds.
    3. Stamkos had a good season last year BUT he's 34 yo and Marchssault is 33. Eventually " Father Time" catches up and even losing a step or two can mean the difference between being effective or struggling. Both these guys have so far been a BUST….they lost again tonight (Stamkos did score however). I picked Marchessault for my hockey pool…..what a bust he's been.
    4. Preds are actually WORSE than my Habs!!!! That says a lot as Habs are struggling BIGTIME!!! Preds are sinking like a stone.
    Re: Nemec: he's got decent size & is young but Reinbacher is bigger and I'm not sure I'd give up on him just yet.

12. NJD's treatment of Nemec is curious, indeed. He's only 20. Why is he not developing in the AHL when, as you say, they have so many vets on long term deals ahead of him? #2 overall or no, D's take longer to develop. He should be playing big minutes every night in Utica. Also, Habs have Hutson. Nemec has a similar skill set & similar size. Why would they want to pay the price to bring him in over Reinbacher? It comes back to the same thing: D's take longer to develop. He just turned 20 a few weeks ago. Give Reinbacher 1 full healthy season in Laval. Then, they'll know what they have.

14. First of all, his name isn't Simon it's Šimon. Šimon was supposed to be in the AHL last season, but when Dougie got hurt he got called up. Fitzgerald took a lot of heat last year for letting Šimon and Luke play and not having veteran D to support them. Both kids burnt out by the end of last year. That's why the vets were aquired. Kovacevic isn't on a long-term deal. He's been better than expected and taking games over Šimon but I think the plan will be to get Šimon into games or send him back to Utica. He's only 20 they don't have to do anything drastic when he's not even close to reaching his peak. Trading Šimon for another young defenseman does absolutely nothing but shuffle cards. Why not stand when you already have a good hand?
    Dmen take longer to develop than forwards it's likely by 25 to expect Šimon to be ready for a full time top line roll. You don't expect a spot to be open in 5 years? All those "long-term" contracts will be up by then. Why are we rushing to the grill? Let it marinate. And Seamus only played because Luke and Pesce both missed the start of the season otherwise he would've been in Utica the whole time so I wouldn't assume he's above Šimon either. I'm not saying the speculation is impossible I'm saying it's illogical.

15. Trading Reinbacher makes zero sense
    Even less so when we think about that he is injured and situation Montreal has do address has nothing to do with Reinbacher
    Only thing what matters for Reinbacher is to get healthy and at least play the same number of games with the Laval rockets like last season and don't miss the playoff again.
    And after that prepare for training camp 25/26 season and don't get hurt again
