Post-Game Reaction: Edmonton Oilers 2, Vegas Golden Knights 4

Connor McDavid returned to the Oilers lineup but it was not enough as the team blew a third period lead after a horrific penalty by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins changed the entire momentum of the game. After the Oilers were leading by a goal through two-and-a-half periods, defenceman Noah Hanifin scored twice for the Golden Knights, including the game-winner with 48.4 seconds remaining, before Vegas added an empty-netter to steal the two points on Wednesday night in a 4-2 victory at Rogers Place. #oilers #edmontonoilers #nhl

  1. Seems like
Bouchard will never score a slap shot again
Draisaitl will never score a one-timer again
Hyman will never get a tap-in again
And Nurse will never use his brain again
    😔

  2. Not good enough, no mention the boring and stale past games, straight up suffering to watch, we really had to bethe first to let them get their first win on the road win

  3. As usual, the oilers find a way to lose…..again. despite my prediction being semi wrong.
I'm tired of the lacklustre performance from the oilers. Something has got to give and fast because at this rate, they won't make the playoffs.

  4. That 1st goal against looks more like 2 of our guys could be at fault, but more because it came out of a broken play to me. I know we play a zone type defense usually, and this was a counterattack that developed in the VGK zone. It looks like a the forward (looks like Skinner) that was going to put back pressure on their center(Eichel) either gave up on the play due to puck watching and Eichel just straight up won the foot race. Bouchard looked like he was pinching up to close up their offensive left wing and also got puck watching. McDavid lost the puck possession attempt back in the VGK half wall that led to their breakout and explains non coverage of Eichel, a center, from one of our centers(McDavid). Smart play by Eichel and Barbashev to recognize the weakness of zone coverage when a broken play occurs. That pass that ended up on Barbashevs stick hit Eichels stick first and kind of threw off the rhythm of our defenders. I think If Skinner and/or Bouchard showed a little more hustle, that chance gets broken up. Maybe Bouch and Skinner assumed the other was going to check/back pressure Eichel, so both got caught puck watching and that microsecond of indecision led to the scoring chance.

  5. It makes sense our PP and PK stuck right now for 2 reasons-RNH is aajor reason both were good last year. Also, if one is good in practice, the other one probably gets better too, so maybe the rule applies for when one is bad?

  6. Been following what happens to teams who lose in the finals… repeating pattern the year after most of them are broken from losing the Stanley cup after such a rush of working so hard to lose the chance to winit all…quite the crash after allthoseeffort toe Dulwich nothing BTW
Mcd needs to mature real fast …

  7. wait! Is this not the same team who fans claimed were 2025 Stanley Cup champs? The same Oilers who were destined to climb to the top of the Pacific division, the top coach, the best goaltender tandem? These are the same Oilers who defeated Calgary proving that they were a top-notch team?

  8. The worst part for me was not playing it safe with a minute remaining in order to secure the single point. Turning the puck over in the OZ instead of playing keep away is unforgivably bad strategy.
