Dylan Larkin’s two points help Detroit take care of business in Chicago

Detroit needed to come into the United Center and take care of business against an inferior opponent and they did, beating the Blackhawks. It was a slow start to the game, but Detroit struck first thanks to a DeBrincat goal late in the 1st. After that Larkin, Veleno and Copp netted goals to help carry the Red Wings to a 4-1 victory. Cam Talbot was as steady as ever. #LGRW

  1. I love Raymond on the second line. He is the best fit with Copp and Compher. He'll help them maximize their limited offensive potential and free up the 1st and 3rd lines to be stronger offensively too. I think this will pan out well. Looking forward to seeing how it goes against tougher competition in the Leafs and Rangers.

  2. A stat I don't hear you guys discuss is the amount of giveaways Detroit has. It's absolutely absurd to have 18 in a game yet that's close to what they average. 185 in 11 games is just below the middle of the league but that should be an area of focus.

  3. Was it an accident or was Albert Johansson playing on with Chiarot on the second pair? It seemed like they were out there quite a bit together and they looked really good. It made all the pairings look better. I believe the I believe the pairs were M. S. & Edv., Chiarot & Jo , Gus & Petry. Am I correct ?

  4. Okay, I've been beating this drum for like a month . NOW even the announcers on NHL tonight are discussing it (i.e. Gretzky, etc.) and saying it is bound to happen to one of the bubble teams very soon.
*Peface: Although we looked much improved today and more structured. I will never for a minute believe that this coach has what it takes to get us very far in the playoffs (not now or anytime in the near future). He's kind of like one of those hockey players that are really good in the AHL, but they just don't have quite what it takes for the NHL (sort of a place holder). We cannot hesitate any longer. S. Y. needs to sign J. QUENNVILLE as soon as he possibly can !!! To quote Getz and others: everyone knows he is the BIG, BIG BIG name hanging out their. One of the bubble teams is going to take him soon. For God's sake, Steve hurry up and get this guy locked up before we lose our opportunity. When we brought in Scotty Bowman, you said yourself that he taught you how to be the winner you needed to be. He taught you how to win! You need somebody, a coach with experience, to do that for the team ! I know that S.Y. is watching closely. It is time; in order for the Wings to continue to move forward, the amateur hour MUST END ! In order for this team to continue to progress we have to obtain the most experienced coach, avaliable. Joel Quenneville has 3 cups and is Scotty Bowman approved !! That says it ALL Steve !!! Don't procrastinate, in your heart of hearts, you know that it must be done ! We were out shot (I believe) in EVERY single game this year. We just played one of the worst teams in the league and were still outshot ! Our coach, I hate to say it, IS NOT THE RIGHT GUY to get the job done and this is NOT the time for on the job training !!!!! Pleazzze make the call, FOR God's SAKE !

  5. Larkin and Debrincat look great together this year. Cat could have scored 4 tonight. I think we need more out of our 3rd line though. Kasper still only has 1 point and that was in his first game of the season. Berger only has 1 assist. And senko only has 2 goals. If we can get that third line going a little, this could be a dangerous team

  6. The more I watch Kasper the more I like him. I like his tenacity.I like his speed, I like his skill and I like his positional defensive play. I would really like to see a way if we could try to work him onto the second pairing somehow. I'd like to see him on the pair with Raymond and his speed and skill. Perhaps move him to the wing even. Or move Compher or Copp up or down or to the wing. I would just like to have the coach experiment with different combos in practice and see what looks the best. Try to think out of the box. Maybe he would click with Raymond or Kane, etc. Maybe he could center Kane and Debrinkat on #2 line. ????? Any suggestions would be interesting. I'd like to hear some ideas from you all.

  7. My reasoning for the below line experiments would be to add some added skill, tenacity and speed to the 2nd pairing, to hopefully result in more goals ! See below.

  8. the goal Chicago did score was against Chiarot and Petry pairing. Chiarot getting out played in a board battle. then Petry just being oblivious to the guy out front and pass going between his legs.

  9. Good analyses guys, Scotty I don't think we have any hope of our second d-line changing until next year when Petry comes off the books. I can not see any team taking on Holl or Petry's contract.
