OKC Thunder First Loss What Went Wrong Caruso Offense Shai Turnovers

**Oklahoma City Thunder’s First Loss: A Wake-Up Call?** The Oklahoma City Thunder faced their first setback of the season, falling to the Denver Nuggets 124-122. Despite a 13-point lead, the Thunder couldn’t hold off the Nuggets’ late surge. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, usually a reliable force, struggled with 8 turnovers but still managed to score 28 points, shooting 52% from the floor.

This episode unpacks Jalen Williams’ standout performance, where he nearly achieved a triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Chet Holmgren’s quiet yet effective night against Nikola Jokic is also in focus, alongside Alex Caruso’s ongoing offensive challenges. The discussion offers insights into the Thunder’s evolving dynamics and the impact of these performances on their season trajectory.

Tune in to explore the Oklahoma City Thunder’s strategies and player performances, and discover what lies ahead for this promising team.

  1. I don’t want to overreact about one loss, but I do agree with Michael Cage the officials were kind of calling it one way for Denver. At the end of the day we just lose because people on there team scored and made threes that usually don’t.

  2. That stretch in the 3rd when Cason was left in the game struggling instead of Ous who was playing very well mad me angry. but WHEN MARK LEFT Isaiah Joe in from the 4-1:30 ish minute mark in the 4th while Lou just sat on the bench I gave up. long stretches of the game Shai consistently refused to swing the rock when Joe pops and is WIDE OPEN. The corners were open consistently when Denver ran zone in the first half… Nobody makes the extra pass. We're still just forcing stupid double teamed layups when we have people wide open on the three point line. dumb lineups lack of ball movement it's all coaching and it's a repeat of last year, the big men coming back will help a ton but these little things like BALL MOVEMENT should be fundamental by now..

  3. My only issue with any coaching decisions is why Caruso got all the crunch time playing time and most of the 4th quarter. He was a -8 for the game. Why wasn’t Wiggins given the opportunity +13 in 17 minutes instead of Caruso?

  4. Help me out because I'm confused. We score 20 more points against these guys than we did 2 weeks ago, we shot the ball better, and got more steals and this loss is on us!?! And the refs not only get a pass but they were good?!? That makes no sense whatsoever.
You wanna know how you neutralize a cobra, you pull out its fangs and that is exactly what these sorry refs did tonight to the Thunder defense.

The Nuggets are down 2 starters, their bench sucks, and yet they score 40 more points than in our last meeting and it's the offense to blame!?! Give me a physical break!

I'm not sure when the 4th estate lost the ability to speak truth to power in Herr Silverman's NBA regime, but I haven't. I hope the gamblers got rich tonight.

  5. Cavs fan here don't panic or overreact to your first lost of the season. You guys are still the best team in the NBA. The Thunder and the Celtics in either order you can say are the best two teams in the NBA. I know the Celtics just lost but they did not have Jaylen Brown playing. A healthy Celtics which includes Jaylen Brown and a healthy Porzingis is tough. The only team i see defeating them are the Thunder. As for the Cavs i think they will struggle against the Knicks and Celtics in the playoffs. I think the Cavs is missing one more piece and then they could possibly contend with the two MONSTERS of the NBA ……. CELTICS and THUNDER. Good luck to the rest of the season

  6. 6:18 Rylan c’mon. The refs are NOT the reason OKC lost but Mike Malone literally came in the court and stopped a 2 on 1 fast break which deserved an ejection from the game but the refs weren’t a problem?

  7. Thank God the Refs call every blow of wind that comes SGAs way. If he was treated like the 3x MVP your team wouldnt sniff the playoffs. SGA is the new James Harden/Joel Embiid . Biggest foul grifter in the league.

  8. More than anything this was a Jokic masterclass proving he’s still the best player in the world. Lots of good things for the Thunder and some bad but it came down to the end so can’t really be mad or overly critical

  9. The game was winnable. Down the stretch, the team failed to convert. Dort missed a layup at the end instead of pulling it out and getting a quality possession. We had time. J Dub forcing the issue late was good for his late game takeover. He;s gotta get those reps and learn how to be THAT GUY when Shai and Chet are not hitting. Chet was open a couple of times down the stretch and I wish they looked for him after he hit the three late. I think this was a game OKC was willing to lose for the sake of film and reps. I'll take the L.
