16. The reason why I think Washington hasn't checked in is realistically, even though they can offer him the money, so can the Mets, the Yankees and the Dodgers. He said it was going to come down to the best offer and any one of those teams are in a position to be the highest bidder. Unlike the other teams though, Washington is not ready to contend for the World Series. Signing Soto would go a very long way towards moving that needle in that direction but I still don't think that he alone would turn them into contenders. I think the Nats are also aware of this and are concentrating on using their resources elsewhere.

17. I agree that the Dodgers are basically just going to get involved to drive up the price. I do think that the Mets however should be right alongside the Yankees in the top dog tier, one team is just as likely as the other to land him. Juan Soto has made it abundantly clear that he is going to the highest bidder and that the mystique of playing for the Yankees seems to be meaningless to him.

18. I think Juan Soto will choose between the Mets and the Yankees. He already knows what he can do at Yankee Stadium, so why risk going elsewhere where he fares less? One big reason is that Juan's father is a lifelong Yankee fan. Juan is not going to disappoint Dad.
