What would Texas Rangers’ best-case scenario offseason look like and why it must involve Roki Sasaki
The Texas Rangers had a quiet winter after winning the World Series in 2023, but after an embarrassing 2024 Chris Young can’t afford to simply run it back in 2025.
Roki Sasaki would fit perfectly into everything the Rangers need this winter and where they hope to be for the next several years. Bringing back Nathan Eovaldi and Kirby Yates would be huge for Texas. Signing Randall Grichuk would fortify the lineup and give more depth in case the offensive funk of 2024 continues.

roki is 2028 or 2029, 2027 would be super early, possible but unlikely. 4 years of team control remaining (5 years of "league control").
people need to stop talking about him coming to mlb this offseason, it's really insulting to baseball fans in japan, especially to the fans of lotte chiba marines. i know people are not intending to be racist but it can be perceived as such. i.e the ignorance and lack of importance placed on playing in the npb league is rather demeaning.
again, i know people do not have malicious intentions. fans are just excited. but on the other side of this earth, perception is different, and they hear these things. and when you really think it through, this is indirect tampering at it's worst. you're essentially asking a team and fan base to give up their star player for free (essentially) when there's 5 years left in team control. note that ohtani's situation was different and it's a not good comparison.
