Yeah theres no way that happens. Dude is gonna get PAID.
I’m hoping they find the money to take a chance on John Means 😂. Both are Orioles, so close!
if op was really on here instead of spamming all the subs, you’d know this if a joke and would never have posted it
Because if there’s anything the internet needs it’s another stupid slideshow with content that reads like it was written by a 7th grader.
It’s cute when articles think this FO will spend real money on a player haha
You’re a pretty funny guy, that was a good one!
Cleveland signing Corbin Burnes is a real knee slapper!
Not a chance this happens. We are already projected to be around $100 mil in payroll without any additions.
Gimenez and Jose are going to account for $30 mil between the two of them and that number will get much higher going forward. In 2028 it’ll be close to $50mil.
Burnes will command over $30 mil a year on a longer term contract. We’d have to trade Josh Naylor and Lane Thomas to get close to being within our budget restrictions to bring him in.
Also the Mets, Yankees, and Red Sox among others will be willing to give him much more than $30/year. I think Boston will be desperate to make some splashes in free agency personally and are a perfect landing spot for him.
I think realistically, we bring back Boyd as long as his market doesn’t get too crazy. I’d love to say Bieber but he’s a west coast guy and a team like the Giants or Angels would be more willing to give him a deal with incentives and a pretty high floor, yearly salary.
Unfortunately starting pitching has historically been very expensive and for the first time in a while we need multiple arms.
I’d hate if we took the route we did last year and rely on a spring training invite and young guys to step up but I don’t see where we have the money to be competitive in the open market when so many teams are looking to upgrade SP.
Also remember that the extended playoffs hurt us here. Teams that under the old system would punt and try to rebuild might flood the market and increase asking prices to all free agents regardless of position. If the Tigers can sneak into the playoffs then why wouldn’t every team in the AL minus the Athletics and White Sox not call Burnes’ agent and try and make a run at him?
We just aren’t built to compete there especially if we want to retain guys like Kwan, Fry, or even Bibee long term.
Haha nope. Could see Boyd back, and Bieber on a one year prove it deal
Fuck it Bibee Burns Bieber Boyd and Bwilliams
Corbin Bernsen? I thought you said this team didn’t have any high priced talent
Dudes 30 and coming off a really good season. My guess is 6 years at $25 mil AAV at a minimum, we ain’t paying that, nor should we as hell fall off in 2-3 years and then mammoth contract to work around
Zero chance.
It’s not going to be here. Why even bother thinking about it.
Probably not happening. Hopefully we get lucky and the FO pulls out another Ben Lively type situation. A no name guy who actually ends up doing pretty decent for us. Pretty sure that’s all we can expect. I’m still hoping they at least pick up Boyd.
Signing an ace to fill a glaring gap in the team that almost made it to the world series? No way!
We already know how this will play out. We will watch the rich clubs spend their money first, let this sub realize none of the top line free agents are coming here, just stop it. In the middle of January many free agents will understand they are not receiving three year contracts, or will be playing in NY or LA. A one year reset contract for reasonable money in Cleveland is a viable option. We will roll the dice on a few players, some will work out, some will not.
