Montreal will contend in a couple years and Suzuki and Caulfield will be second-liners they have to build a huge bottom 6 fast hard to play against this year just enjoy the ride to a top draft pick as well enjoy Lavelle Rockets where they are better coached and have a much better structure they will learn the winning culture there

Trading Matheson is an opportunity to acquire something like a First round pick or a prospect of equal value.. trading him for a different defender would be a lateral move that doesn’t really maximize the value u can get for matheson. Find another way to get a right D. Come on guys. You should know better than that

12. Like the news I have started not follow these dumb stories from writers. After a while it just becomes annoying. So I click away as I done with news,tv shows etc: Several people are doing the same when I speak with people.

16. Newhook did pretty well at center last year down the stretch. Perhaps they should give it another try as a 2C with Dach and Heinemann as the wingers. Slafkovsky needs to reunite with Suzuki and Caufield.

17. Tbh, I think the best case scenario is that we get 2 top 10 picks in the upcoming draft. Lets say they draft Misa and McQueen. Top 6 of: Misa-McQueen-Demidov
    Slafkovsky-SuzukiCaufield. I also think Montreal could sign Bennett this offseason.

19. The issue is there is a lack of experience helping MSL on the bench. This point it's ego 😢

21. "The defense still not looking great"…..that's the understatement of the year. I"ve seen girl's high school teams that worked a defensive zone better than these mopes. I don't, however, blame the players. The Habs defensive coaching is disastrous and if MSL has any hope of hanging on to his job, he better import the best defensive coach he can find ASAP.

25. I would remain patient, draft Hagens and give him a chance at center in a year or two. Witn Demidov arriving next year this would fit perfectly.

28. Trade Hutson, unfortunately everybody knows he can’t play defense. Enough of the Rodeo, get something now while the hype is still on. Get Owen Tippet, or Mason McTavish. Demidov is a complete unknown entity. Wake up.

29. They don’t need D, they need a system…coaching and the boys to play big or play elsewhere.

30. Trade the coach, stop with the hype. They gave up Kovacevic who was their contemporary Jacque Laperierre. They have many young D-guys with potential but no system or accountability. So tired of seeing all the opposition goal highlights with Hutson out of position and/or getting manhandled, and Cole trying to back check like a bug on a horses butt. Too small and soft!

    Second of all trade Dach, Anderson and Dvorak for 1st line superstar centre. I know Hughes loves Dach but I don’t give a hack Dach is a loser.
    Third of all trade Matheson + several draft picks for Simon Nemec.
    Draft is not a solution.

36. You got it wrong it's not the 2nd line Center that was missing since the late #4 Jean Béliveau we never had a true #1 Center. We had good #2 and #3 centers over the years which we used them as #1,#2 because we did not have the elusive #1 Center. Exemple #11 Saku Koivu, #14 Tomas Plekanec, #81 Lars Eller and #24 Phil Danault. #51 David Desharnais. Today our #1 #14 Nick Suzuki will be a #2 or #3 Center on a Championship team ! He is our #1 because the rest of the team sucks.

37. Trade Matheson for Nemec. And go for another 1overall pick by being worst team in the league while developing those young players

38. Too long a time of losing, we are teaching the players that losing is acceptable. I think it is time to look at the coaching. Our defensive system is not working so it is either our players, which means we are in limbo for the next decade, or it is a coaching issue. As always it is easier to change the coach.

39. I could see Anaheim willing to make aggressive trades with the Habs since they have so many top offensive prospects that might help them to get out of their difficult situation.
