Eloy Jimenez will always be a bigger disappointment than Yoan Moncada

Nope. Moncada was the top prospect in all of baseball
Idk I feel like they’re pretty equally disappointing. Both of them reached about 30% of what we thought their potential was. Both had some hot streaks. Both got injured way too much. Both didn’t seem to care about baseball enough to take necessary steps to get better at it.
I think these two are perfect microcosms for the entire rebuild/window. Endless excitement at the beginning, flashes of hope for a couple seasons, and then absolute disappointment.
Ah well. The wheel of time keeps turning. I’m relieved to move on from them, lock this era of Sox baseball in the way back of the closet, and throw away the key. Onward and upward.
Sadly, his rookie season ended up being his best one in his five years on the team. Absolutely insane.
I thought this was obvious. Moncada’s career fWAR to this point is 13.8, Eloy’s is 4.2. Moncada at least was a good defender. Eloy isn’t good at anything.
Moncada will find a major league deal somewhere. Eloy might have to sign a minor league deal and wait for an injury or something.
Jimenez never took the game seriously – was paid before he performed and basically traded his bat for a fork.
At least Eloy was likable. Can’t say the same for Yoan
Agree but both are were huge failures so what does it even matter which one was the biggest etc who cares
Wasn’t Moncada supposed to be the next great one when we traded for him? Like Machado+ level greatness? I don’t remember that hype with Eloy.
Moncada will always be the bigger bust to me because of those expectations.
Trash article, smells like AI.
Basically just ranks the prospects by WAR
The entire 18-22 era was one big disappointment. I don’t think we have to rank it.
Arguably, COVID was like the third worst thing to happen to our fanbase.
Not gonna read the article. But what the fuck is the point of arguing over which of the two is a bigger disappointment? Literally, both were awful and franchise altering busts.
100% truth
He gets injured jogging to first base to sit at home and collect a check
In no universe is Eloy a bigger disappointment than Moncada. Moncada was supposed to be an all-around amazing player. Way more potential overall than Eloy, and it wasn’t even close.
It’s stupid that extensions were given to both by a GM who wanted to save face after missing on Harper and Machado.
They both were disappointments. Good riddance!
His swing needs to be reworked.
He should start by eliminating that awkward twisted leg kick and raising his hands. It might have worked when he was young but he’s just lost bat speed and should simplify his load and hand position.
He can still get to balls but his swing is a mess.
Why not both?
The real disappointment was management keeping them them an extra 2, 3 seasons. I know most of yous were done with them after their 2nd seasons. I was
This is not true.
I mean honestly, who cares who the bigger disappointment was? Both guys had disappointing, injury-riddled careers and I think it’s fair to question their commitment to the game.
Moncada will go to another middling team and likely still be an everyday starter. Or go to a contender and be a regularly used infield depth piece.
Eloy will go to the minors and struggle to make his was back to the show given his inability to hit or field or add any value to a team.
