Bucs have averaged 32.4 points in their last five games, but are 1-4 in that stretch. How rare is that? In NFL history, there are 826 times a team has scored 162+ points in a 5-game span. Of those 826, just three managed only 1 win: 2024 Bucs: 1-4 | 2019 Bucs: 1-4 |1983 Chiefs: 1-4

  1. The 2019 stretch was wild and it was part of Winston’s 30-30 season

There was even one extra game where we scored lots of points and lost.

    In a row:

    31-32 Loss vs Giants

    55-40 Win @Rams

    24-31 Loss @Saints

26-37 Loss in London vs Panthers

    Bye week

    23-27 Loss @Titans

    34-40 (after OT) Loss @Seahawks

(and we continued scoring tons of points that year after this Seahawks game – 30, 17, 35, 28, 38, 38, 20, 22 to end the season)

Defensive Coordinator that year? Todd Bowles (ok, this is not that serious, it’s a stat mostly for Winston’s INTs and TDs rather than Bowles being horrible but…)

  2. I tend to give Bowles some leeway but holy moly it is an indictment of him that the only two modern era teams that have done this had their defense called by him. Injuries have been a big part of this season’s slump because of Dean and especially Dennis being out. Does anyone remember if we had significant injuries during that 2019 slump?

  3. Shouldn’t be coaching. Saleh was canned for less and his defense was good. Were wasting our offenses prime despite the injuries

  4. Chin up guys, we’re having a historic season! This one’s gonna go down in the history books

  5. I keep seeing Saleh get tossed out there as the next DC and I’d be all for that, but what about Eburflus? Clearly can’t cut it as a HC, hired a horrible OC, but the defense is undeniably good and it’s not like they’ve got an all star cast. I’d be ecstatic if we’ve got Liam as HC and Saleh or Flus as DC next year.
