Texans shuffle line, moving Juice Scruggs to left guard, inserting Jarrett Patterson at center

  1. This will help a lot on the stunt and delayed blitzes against IOL. I will be curious to see how it affects the run game.

  2. One of the biggest weak points has been the communication on the line.

    >Majority of the sacks and pressures are coming from on a variety of stunts, blitzes and bull rushes that aren’t being accounted for properly

I think this move can potentially fix a lot of those issues.

    >And Patterson, a cerebral, technique-strong former sixth-round draft pick from Notre Dame, is known for his vocal approach and understanding of pass rushing schemes. He should be able to stabilize the middle.

Got a really good feeling about this move but we’ll see tomorrow night!

  3. This I’m happy to hear!! Patterson had a great start as a center last year! Hope that continues!

It was hard to tell if there was also potentially an issue with the protections being called by Juice. That being said I also appreciate what appears to be a concerted effort to not throw Juice under the bus.

  4. If this was the plan we should have just called the commanders and trade for Dieter and brought him back since it worked last year and the Oline was a lot better than it was now.

  5. I’m not expecting overnight miracles, but I’m hopeful this is a step in the right direction.

  6. Okay, I’m good with this change. Let’s just hope Patterson doesn’t get his bell rung again.

  7. I knew this was going to happen. Brought it up with the local station and they said it will never happen. Never say never.

  8. Hope looking back this becomes the move that made us better. It still make no sense 2nd and third stringers last year have played better than our first string o line
