I think Jayson Tatum is playing the best basketball of his career. He grew into such a well-rounded player last year in the playoffs, while his shot wasn’t falling. Now that he’s eliminated the hitch in his shooting form, he’s back to being a dynamic scorer as well.
I really think Jayson Tatum should be leading the MVP discussion, but what do you guys think? Let me know!

Draft Kings has him at +500, 3rd behind SGA and Luka. He started the season at +600 so he hasn’t really moved up that much, at least according to Vegas lines.
If he stays healthy he’ll be in the mix for MVP for the next several years. I think Kobe won his first at 30
Jokic is hard carrying a pretty mid Nuggets side so far, which will help him. Then again, voter fatigue may kick in for him and JT is having an amazing start, so let’s see!
I agree he is playing the best ball of his career. But is he leading the way over Jokic?
I know this sounds bad, but Tatum needs more guys to get injured to have a chance at MVP because of the fact that other guys are basically spearheading their teams and wouldn’t be successful without them. The Brown being out is helping his case, which will go back to being a long shot when Brown comes back. All in all, I’d just rather them win the finals again, because I think we have to blow the team up in the next few years for financial reasons, then it gets easier for Tatum or Brown to win MVP.
I think they were ready to give the award to SGA this year, but he has a slow start by his standard. So I think the award is up for grabbing
His MVP case comes down to if he can keep up his numbers when KP comes back, if he hovers at 30/7/4 with elite efficiency and defense he’s top 3. With the way the East is right now we should easily finish top 2 which only helps his case.
He’ll never win it. They don’t want to give it to him. He’s leading one of the best (if not the best) teams in the league, he’s leading the league in scoring (AD’s higher but played less games), the efficiency could be better but he’s without his number 2 currently so defences are locked in on him. He’s elite in both sides of the ball, averaging 2 steals and a block (rounding up)… the ONLY arguments could be Jokic or Luka and their team success is hurting both.
This year kinda the most chances he going to ever have because his numbers will improve by jb and kp not playing and after its the season after getting the chip. Following years luka, ja, shai, wemby are going to be tough to beat In the mvp race
He won’t because he’s on a good team and doesn’t get crazy offensive stat lines like Luka and Jokic. I think his rebounding and defense should be appreciated more but when you have a center on a rough team passing and facilitating like Jokic it’s very hard. I’d rather see a championship anyway
I’m a Celtics fan and I love Tatum but Jokic is putting up video game numbers. He had a 23,20,and 16 game recently. Like how is that even possible? 😂
Jokic is gonna make it tough. And I imagine that by the end of the season Luka will almost certainly be in the mix
I’m a Celtics fan. I really think Tatum’s been awesome. I’m still impartial to Jokic and SGA leading the pact in my opinion as MVP.
His shot is so nice to watch now. It’s buttery smooth, even if it doesn’t always go in. I didn’t realize how dicey his shooting for was until I saw the transformation this season
Just depends on if he can keep it up. This isn’t the first time he has been the mvp of the first part of the season. 2 years ago he was averaging like 31/8/5 through the first 20 games and looked like the mvp leader. Then he had one of his shooting slumps and slowly faded out of that convo.
He’s not in the same universe as Jokic. No one is. If he wants to compete for second, that’s fine.
No MVP has also won the chip since 2015. Only 3 made it past the second round. I don’t like that curse lol. I guess he’ll just have to settle for FMVP
I think he should as well. Unfortunately from what I’ve seen, most people have him between 3-5. I can see an argument for 1-3 but anything less if fucking ridiculous tbh. Not sure what else he can do besides be a little more efficient maybe? Less back talk to refs, more put your head down and drive? What makes that harder is when he gets hacked all game and doesn’t get the calls a superstar should.
But early for that talk no? Looooong season left.
I won’t stand for the Payton Prichard disrespect
It’s definitely Jokic lmao
And the Cavs are on pace to go 82-0. 10 games is too early for anything.
