“In reference to the “juicy” #Angels news that was teased Monday from @AngelsWin:

“So I was told by a trusted source… that Arte Moreno is going to spend significantly more than the media has led on to.”

Said the source knows a couple AL East execs who were told that.”

Always take these sources with a grain of salt but feels like the usual Arte offseason moves are upon us

  1. Aka we are giving Snell a $200 million contract for him to put up a 4.5 ERA every year for the next 7 years

  2. Even if he does it’s probably just for one splashy FA and nothing else. Not getting my hopes up.

How about we take some of that money and invest it into the minor league scouting and development infrastructure and maybe I’ll take the team seriously

  3. I wish the Angels would spend money on developing top tier talent by giving them the best in the league training pipeline to the majors. Without it, the Angels will never ever compete.

  4. Do you mean like that $5M flier on a 40-year-old 7+ERA pitcher he just signed today? Go git ’em Arte!

  5. He’s spent heavily many times before on players and nothing good happened. Once again sidestepping the main issues.

  6. I think AngelsWin is a fine website, but 99% of these “reports” from non-insiders are usually BS and vaguely worded for plausible deniability.

  7. I’m hopeful the young core could do what the past teams since 2014 haven’t been able to do; fill in the gaps of an underperforming Arte purchase, obviously not hopeful us being the laughable loser Angels we know and love, but if Neto, O’hoppe, Schanuel, and even Adell have the tenacity we think they might have, even Arte may not be able to “Out-Farte” the Angels this season

  8. Having a willingness to spend and convincing those players to play for this organization under Arte Moreno is another thing.

  9. Juan Soto is the only big name FA I would want tbh. We aren’t gonna outbid Cohen though so like what is the plan here Arte.

  10. Every year has been the same since 2015 and I expect ten years on to also be shit.

He needs to stop talking and walk the walk.

  11. Arte spending money on players is not the fucking problem. There are a bunch of teams with lower payrolls that regularly perform better. It’s who he spends the money on. Usually it’s some overpriced player after a breakout year or an aging star that is past it.

Arte IS cheap when it comes to the minor leagues, staffing and scouting, etc. He doesn’t want to put money into anything that isn’t the product on the field…and never pitching. So what do we get? Few prospects that can genuinely be developed well over time or used as trade fodder. A merry go round of average to poor pitching options. And bozos like Rendon, Josh Hamilton, Vernon Wells, Gary Matthews Jr and the like.

  12. Should invest the money into hires inside the org to develop players and sign international players.

  13. Yeah more useless 1-2 year contracts on guys at the second part of their careers like Sano and Kyle Hendricks who can’t even throw a 90 mph fastball anymore cause he’s so old

  14. I was told by a close associate of Arte Morono that he says whatever is needed to lock in season tickets and hype for making money next season off the Angels withe goal being a record profit year.

  15. Surrrrre he will. And if he does he’ll sign some aging big name for 700mil and they’ll come over to us and immediately slump.

  16. Arte will go after Soto, Burnes, and Fried. He will give them a deadline which they ignore, then Arte will back out when the price gets too high (predictably). Cue the pivot to overpaying Bregman, Alonso, Snell.

  17. And then finished the sentence “will spend significantly more than what’s currently being led on…settling the Skaggs case, that I should have settled prior to discovery when it was found out that MLB warned us in writing that illicit activity was happening on our private social networks and we did nothing.” I think that was the full quote.

  18. He’s gonna over spend on snell or Soto signing some ridiculous contract that will last over 10 years, once again effectively crippling the team and franchise. Woo hoo!!

  19. We’ve heard this all before, nothing will change, he will get a couple bats here and there, the pitching will still be shit and we will have to score 12 runs a game to get over .500 as usual.
