[Morosi] Owen Caissie is a popular name in early-stage trade buzz at the GM Meetings. The 22-year-old Cubs prospect is coming off an impressive Triple-A season (.848 OPS) but does not have a clear path to everyday at-bats in a crowded MLB outfield.

They better get a legit bat in return, he fits the hitting profile we need on this team, so if they’re gonna move him that role needs to be filled
Suzuki goes to DH. Happ, PCA, Caissie, and Belly form the OF platoon.
Get rid of Happ and play him? It’s not that difficult
I was hoping we could trade Alcantara instead.
We need Caissie to make up for losing Schwarber
This is one of those “I’d hate it if it happens but I also wouldn’t be surprised at all” theoretical moves.
Even if Seiya DHs basically fully time, you’ve still got Belli, Happ, PCA, Tauchman, Canario, and Alcantara looking for outfield time ahead of Caissie. Something *has* to give in that outfield class.
This would be easier to deal with if Happ and Suzuki didn’t have full no-trade clauses.
I see zero reason to move off of our top power hitting prospect when we desperately need high end power hitting lol
I have long believed that the first prospect to be traded was Triantos. If they are keeping Hoerner and Shaw, plus all of the outfielders then Triantos is the most blocked prospect in the system.
Gee whose fault is it that our best prospects are blocked? Maybe Cubs shouldn’t have been so focused on making Happ and Belli block the outfield while ignoring 1b, 3b and C. Thank God Busch is actually good.
Our problem is power hitters and we want to deal away one. Ridiculous, bench Happ if it’s crowded
It’s been real obvious for a while now that ONKC is blocked, I really wish the FO would’ve tried him at 1B sometime in the last few seasons. He has a big LH powerful bat and it would suck to see the org lose another one under Jed’s management.
LA at least had the respect for Busch to let him try other pathways to the MLB. It truly is a shame that even Ballesteros got time at 1B and ONKC hasn’t.
We should absolutely not trade Caissie.
There are 5 players for 5 positions; Caissie would make the 6th. We can find major league ABs for him until the inevitable injury happens.
And this is a 2-year “problem”; Happ and Suzuki’s contracts have 2 more years to run.
Cassie and Horton for JRam
Why not trade one of the veterans instead?
If we trade one of the more advanced bats in the entire minor leagues so we can make sure to play Seiya and Happ everyday I’ll be done with this team until Jed’s gone. You don’t trade your top prospects for THIS team.
Learning 1B isn’t hard. Tell em Wash.
I hope this is just Jed doing his due diligence of seeing what kind of return he could get in a package including Caissie. If he could find a team willing to part with a significant upgrade at 3B, C, or even top of rotation SP in a package that centered on Caissie it would be hard to pass up
This is one guy I really don’t want to see traded. Probably the top guy tbh with Horton close second.
If he brings back a Vlad Jr. or one of the top starters from Sea I would be ok with it. He has to bring back an All Star level player a game changer. I would be so mad if hes traded for something like the Busch trade prospect blocked traded for 2 younger prospects.
I will be extremely disappointed if we move him. I personally think he is our best prospect and a future star. I think we should move Alcantara, who I sort of view as a player similar to Happ. He’ll likely be very good but not a star. Caissie on the other hand has the potential to be a star imo.
Just put together a good bullpen and add another top arm and let’s just fucking see what happens, that is the only path right now. Hopefully Busch puts together a big year and Swanson can hit like he does the last month of the season.
He’s only 22. No real rush to move him imo
Of course, he’s a lefty power bat and pretty much Major league ready. He’s also the one OF I’d most like to see in cubbie blue.
Trade Suzuki, triantos, alcantara, even ballesteros, but please hang on to this guy.
Put him in right and let Suzuki DH
Fuck no do not trade him. Trade Alcantara.
The Bellinger contract is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only does it mean we won’t spend this offseason, now we’ll trade away a top prospect and the recipient will laugh at us when he shows talent.
Save ONKC
I’d rather trade Happ or Suzuki
trade happ and start cassie
Don’t like this since I’m really high on Caissie. If anything I would rather trade Suzuki or Happ to make room for Caissie and/or other prospects to see what we have there.
I gotta say this would be super disappointing. All these years now we’ve been hearing about these guys in the farm system and now we’re going to start trading some because they’re blocked by mediocre bats in the outfield we can’t move?

83 wins again. Jed can’t build shit.
