Deep Passes Are Twice as Effective As Short Passes

  1. 10% chance of 30 yards is MUCH WORSE than a 50% chance of 3 yards when you have 3 yards to get a first down.

  2. The deep passes are only as effective because we throw short passes and run the ball. Joe takes what the defense gives him, and in an effort to take away the short, the long opens up

  3. It’s tough to defend a 60% completion rate no matter the pass depth 😑 3rd&2 and we throw 2 bombs? Why not at least try to sneak, run, option, or screen for 2 yards…

Refs missed some calls but also kept us in the game.

Tonight I’m watching the lions 😕

  4. MADDEN TIME! Go Route, Go Route, Go Route, No Punting, Go Route, Go Route, Go for Two, Go Route, Go Route, Go Route, Onside Kick, Go Route, Go Route, Go Route…

  5. Down and distance matters I’m trying to move the chains if it’s 3rd down, 3rd and 2 ? Give me a 3 yard pass.

  6. In general, the bengals need to throw deep more. Period. 2-3 times a game isn’t enough with this quarterback and these receivers.

It’s not hard to understand a 30% or so chance of a 40 yard play is much better than a 60% chance of a 7 yard play.

  7. Yes because the great dynasties have been built on risky deep passing.
Montana, Brady, Mahomes never throw less than 25 yards.

Short effective passes with long YAC just don’t work.

  8. Play sequencing matters way more than individual playtype value. As well as managing adjustments, accumulated fatigue and defensive matchup advantages. So I think it’s just not as easy as “throw more long balls.” What we can probably say with more certainty is that ZT calls the backfield screen around 2 or 3 times more than he should.
