  1. 1:11 – My main issue with this take from THG, is how I ALWAYS hear "they take too long to make obvious rulings" – but
NOBODY talks about how this will and has already started to lead to the opposite happening as well… They rushed an early GI challenge from the Jets on Tampa a week ago, and took less than 2 minutes to look at a clip with 3 TB and 3 WPG players plus a goalie all in the overhead shot, and made the call SO quick you'd think they saw what the broadcast and what everybody else saw, which was "obvious goalie interference" The Tampa Bay player totally missed the puck going for a rebound, And then just pushed Bucky back into the net with his stick a full foot, never again trying to take a wack at the loose puck he totally missed… And his teammate has to come and pop it in after Bucky has been shoved all the way back inside his own net by conor geekie…

But they rushed the ruling, And we're only looking at the defensive battles going on all around this obvious interference once you saw it – but there was so much commotion all around, And there was a couple TB players put into the crease/shoved into the crease by Jets players, but they totally rushed and flubbed the ruling…

They ended up providing some answer after the fact online that Geekie made "incidental contact with Bucky" and provided some explanation from the rulebook to try and cover their butts after the fact, but it's clear to every single person who watch that it wasn't incidental contact, and it wasnt an equal incidental battle for a 50/50 uncovered puck in the crease… It was just a rookie/young player trying to simply brute force the puck in… And because the league was rushing for this ruling, because it was the first goal of the game, early in the first, they didnt want to take 3-5 minutes to properly look at all people involved in all clips…

And it gave Tampa a freebie full 2 minutes PP that TB scored on to make it 2-0 very early. The consequences of these rushed wrong decisions can be game changing…

And I said at the time, and I'll say it again now, they're going to end up spending 5 minutes on some complete nonsense did it or did it hit the netting call, but they HAD to absolutely rush goal or no goal calls, and will get those wrong WAY more often as a result of people complaining about long calls…

The NHL needs to work on restoring faith in the system, and then they can take as long as they need to get the call right… At the end of the day we all just want CORRECT calls… They should be able to point at the rulebook each and every time and say "this is why we made this call" but we all know they can't and they don't, and even when they try sometimes like in this Tampa Bay/WPG example, It's clearly to try and cover their butt after the fact. The optics of this league are total trash. The fact George Parros still has a job as head of dept of player safety says everything you need to know about the NHL… A running joke

  2. @TheHockeyGuy Ty Young looks alot like Demko’s style of play. Did you see any Aku Koskenvuo? Looks like a Carey Price style prospect possibly. Covers alot of net quickly. The 2023-24 Abbotsford net roster hasn’t been looking great of late

  3. Would be great to have a time limit on the reviews, max 3 minutes. If it's still unclear after that, the original call stands. And yea 4 nations should have more nations 😅 I'll be watching it but it would be a lot more exciting with more teams

  4. 4 Nations Cup? I doubt if I'll watch any of it. And I watch NHL hockey pretty much everyday.
This tournament is certainly NOT "Best On Best" and I have no interest in it.

    Winnipeg? Amazing start!
Columbus/ Fabbro pickup? Nice. I would love to see them get on a run. After all they've been through? Heck yeah. And I'm not even a Columbus fan overall, just want to see them do well.

  5. Truly have 0 interest in the tournament. It's not a world championship, nor is it the Stanley Cup, therefore it may as well mean nothing in my opinion. Dog and pony show to raise publicity for their product.

  6. They don't have the current world champions in the faceoff. Until they take it seriously why should fans? Only reason they finally caved is because the PA actually has competent leadership to get things done so if Gary goes back on his word on getting back in these tourneys he's screwed in his final CBA negotiation coming up. This is his legacy CBA.

  7. Except for the Olympics, I find the allstar game and four nations cup type thing a waste of time. I don't mind the skills competition but the games are silly because an injury could end your season so its just shinny.

  8. SIX NATIONS plus two: EUROPE and INTERNATIONAL U23. Annual tournament (like rugby).

Big and small hockey nations have a team to support from the get-go. All kids can get behind upstarts.

Once more nations can put a competitive team together, build a qualifying schedule for a world cup.

  9. They can't have the country that shall not be named. Even if they are arguably one of the three best countries in hockey. Not excited.

  10. I don’t care about the 4 Nations.

It’s extra work for top players, plus the risk of injury.

International hockey was better when I didn’t know the players on the European teams.

  11. Ovechkin, Draisaitl, Kucherov, Panarin, Stutzle, Pastrnak, Kaprisov come to mind right away as top level players that won't be playing in the 4 nations and I'm sure there are a lot more. Trying to hype up a tournament without a lot of superstar players even playing.

  12. Maybe try a Ryder Cup style format for forming team to get all the best players involved as the European nations that aren't going to have enough players to field truly competitive superstar team can still be competitive. 6 Teams being USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Russia & Europe everyone plays everyone, group winner straight to the final 2nd plays 3rd in an eliminator & the whole tournament should be done in around 3 weeks still

  13. To me the 4 nations cup just seems like an attempt to repeat the Olympic Games in Vancouver where Canada won against USA in the final. I don’t see how the NHL adds (my country of) Sweden and Finland in order to make the cup competitive from the NHL’s perspective.

  14. Im sure by the time it comes around there'll be more interested in the 4 nations but its very disapointing that theres some seriously good players left out of this tournament.

  15. OT should be 4 on 4, 10 minutes, No shoot out.
0 points if you don’t win OT. Or change point system to 3 points no OT Win. 1 point making OT. 3 point winning OT. Needs more urgency/ do or die, in OT.
