D’Angelo Russell in his two games as the sixth man: 16.5 PPG 2 RPG 2 APG on 52 FG% 38.5 3PT% 66.7 FT% in 26.1 MPG. Leading the Lakers in +/- in the last two games with +31. Good change?

  1. Obviously a very small sample size, but so far, the fit is really good. Both DLo and AR play better when they don’t share significant minutes on the floor together. Would like to see a bit more playmaking, but he’s been efficiently scoring and really helping the bench’s lack of scoring

  2. >Good change?

You know it is. Not getting targeted as much on defense seems to be helping his offense.

  3. That original starting lineup wasn’t championship caliber,  so someone had to get their feelings hurt at some point.

So far DLo has risen instead of shrinking.

  4. Him in the starting lineup makes no sense, too many ball handlers, lack of defense. He is almost like redundant in the starting unit. At least on the bench unit he gets to use his strengths more as a player.

  5. I love that he’s been way more aggressive attacking the rim. Been wanting to see that for the longest.

  6. Went from pretty much dead last to 17th in bench points since the move. Cam has been playing well again. I know Ham tried this with Reaves and it didn’t work out.

  7. This sub seems to be high on Dlo when he has a couple good games, as they should, but long-term he shouldn’t be here past deadline. Even with him coming off the bench or staggering his and Reeves minutes.

He needs to be traded and I will stand on that. Next time Dlo plays bad this sub will go crazy saying they want him gone. Hopefully y’all keep that same energy with him and not switch up. 6th man or not, we cannot keep him on the roster.

  8. Seems to be a great change. Also good to note that vando can replace cam when he’s healthy

  9. A rhythm player who needs the ball in his hands can’t play with a starting lineup filled with playmakers. Who would have thought. At least JJ took correct the issue quickly and fixed the defensive hole we had at the same time.

Both D’lo and Cam should find confidence in their new roles.

  10. Hey! 6MOY is better than being on the bench for a team like the Wizards, plus playoff potential with Bron AD and soon to be AR!

  11. The funny thing is he’d be perfect for the Magic. Damn near every player is a good defender to the extent of D’Lo being covered within that defense

  12. Good change but we still need a third guy on the floor alongside AD and Lebron that can have a consistent impact on offense to help take some pressure off Lebron. Reaves has been decent I suppose but he is better playing off AD and Lebron. At least in the short term it does add more offense to our bench and our defense is improved with Cam.

  13. Great change! JJ is filling voids rather than creating them, further proving the value of the coaching to even the most skeptical players. The guys will have no choice but to buy in further and lock in harder.

Makes me think the laker coaching staff can get AD to start wearing some eye protection regularly.

  14. We have ball handlers alreads in our main lineup, and we sourly need it coming off the bench so it could work..

Really need vanderbilt TBH. That would be a good starting lineup.

  15. Yes. Just wish we had a better option at starting SG next to AR… and another 3 and D guy off the bench… and a physical backup big…

  16. This sub will decide its good until we lose some games and then it will be terrible and he will need to go back to starting.

  17. It’s what I said in another post, he is too good to be on the bench but not good enough (for our lineup) to be a starter as Austin and Dlo have the same weaknesses and more or less the same strengths. He will be a 6MOTY candidate for sure.

Also, even if people keep saying that LeBron is too old to play PG; HE ALWAYS PLAYS PG during games. There is a huge sample size that when we have DLO, LeBron and Austin, there are many possessions were we have two SGs (Austin and DLO) and LeBron as the PG.

Now we basically have a lineup that makes more sense. We have AD sometimes as the hub (ala Jokic), Lebron at PG or SF depending on if Austin is playing PG or SG, Reddish is playing exclusively as Reddish (lol) and Rui exclusively at the 4.
