[Foul Territory] The @Dodgers, @Mets, @Yankees and @Cubs should be considered the favorites for Roki Sasaki, but don’t count out the @Padres says @KyleAGlaser

  1. Unless this guy went to bed with a Shota Imanaga baseball card under his pillow, I am saying DOUBT

  2. I love how they say whoever has a chance, but when asked to put a percentage on it, it ended up being like 85% Tax Dodgers, 10% Padres & 5% the rest of MLB.

  3. That makes perfect sense. This is not about the contract he’s signing but who get him the best potential to earn on his *next* contract. It’s why he came over now…he’s a FA before 30. That’s the magic marker.

If it doesn’t have to be “west coast or bust” than the Cubs have as good of an argument as anyone. They’ve transitioned two Japanese players into immediate MLB success in recent years. They’ve had plenty of pitching wins in general. Oh, and the Cubs literally just partnered with a Japanese group who specializes in limiting pitching injuries (which I assume is simply because the Cubs are looking to grow their brand in Japan and nothing to do with Roki, but maybe a little?). He’d be #1 fiddle and likely the biggest star on the Cubs immediately.

I wouldnt bet on it. But its not crazy.

  4. I dont know if the international pool money is there for him. I think Jed used up alot of it spending the Cubs credit card on Animal Crossing Amiibos or something stupid like that.

  5. I’d love to see the Cubs get Roki, but he’s been rumored to the Dodgers for about as long as Shohei. I’d be shocked to see him anywhere other than LA next year.
