I miss the random free agent we signed from the street. No point spending money or draft capital in a kicker.
Dude was money.
Man this sub is fkn weird.
Moody’s problem isn’t missing kicks. If Moody had gone 5/6 yesterday, nobody would give a shit. Sometimes kickers miss chip shots. Everybody makes mistakes. Shit happens.
Moody’s problem is allowing misses to snowball. Moody has 3 games in his career with multiple misses in the same game, 4 if you include the preseason which doesn’t really count but still happened.
Gould missed kicks but he almost never allowed misses to snowball. Games with multiple missed kicks:
2022: 0
2021: 0
2020: 1
2019: 1
2018: 0
2017: 0
Gould absolutely mastered the mental side of kicking. He had an elite ability to overcome misses. That’s why we as fans miss him so much.
In a pressure situation, I always had faith Gould would come through.
He was great in the playoffs.
He had quite a few misses but rarely for accuracy. The fact that 50yds became the absolute limit of his range and he left a bunch of kicks short was his shortcoming.
Had a great career, but he’s in his 40s and was limited even in his prime. Let him go. Lol
Gould is gold
Do bad kickers ever get good?
Is this you Deebo?
Bay Area fans are a disappointment a lot of times. So overly reactionary. Moody, coming off an injury, after missing 3 kicks, has all the pressure in the world to kick the game winner – and he nails it – and all people can say is, “yeah but he ALMOST missed it” or “i miss gould” or “let’s just get some soccer player who’s never kicked a field goal”. Like, what???? So lame. How about, WAY TO COME THROUGH WHEN IT MATTERED MOST MOODY! Pressure cooker situation and he came through . Stud
Gould thought he was hot shit & wanted to go elsewhere.
I miss nedney! He was automatic
Back then you didn’t kick 55+ yarders like you do nowadays
Robbie “Fuck the Packers” Gould. Aka The Roblin.
I also miss overpaying for a kicker that couldn’t go past 50 yards by the time we cut him
Moody is less consistent but has more leg and costs less money, he’s the better choice currently
I miss Jose Cortez
Good as Gould.
Over his final four seasons R.Gould hit 81.7% of his FGs.
^([PFF grades for anyone who played a 50% or higher snap share as a rookie])
There were not a lot of great selections in that range anyway.
But here we are complaining about a kicker when we could have complained about a different bad player.
Fuck the Packers lol
Anyone here ever had a high ankle sprain? Ffs, this sub…
I miss the guy we had in week 8
I always always always feel for placekickers. The tolerance for error is so much lower than for any other position, except QB, and it’s arguable that QBs have more chance for quick redemption. Also, they get paid a lot less, and are usually put on the spot when other players have screwed up on offensive progress. We take their makes for granted, and forget that they possibly had to adjust for wind from one kick to the next. Meanwhile, place kickers with notorious misses can’t even live in the same city anymore. It’s hard to understand why anyone would want that job, but I have infinite respect for anybody who does it passably well.
I never understood why a NFL team any team tries to save money on the kicker, they score the largest percentage of your points than any other position. I hope we learn our lesson
This pic is from the NFC wildcard at Lambeau a few years go. I was at this game.
Top 5 moment. I just wish I had been a little more sober so I could remember more of it.
