New D man incoming from Alvin
Opening up a slot for Dakota Josua.
Not too much seeing Dak is returning soon, he's easily the odd one out at that Cap hit. No loss
WTF? How do we know that Seattle will live up to a "favor"
Making moves in anticipation of Boeser maybe missing all 6 games at home.
This means Joshua is coming back and possibly Lekkerimäki getting called up.
👍👍 Cap space baby Cap space
Hear he was a bit of a hothead… hard to play with. Not a team player.
Guy was not that good. Lol. Bains, Lekkerimaki, and Raty are in my opinion better. I really think the fanbase was overrating Sprong. But there is a reason he bounces around all the time. 6 teams in 9 years. I am actually surprised we even brought him in to begin with. He felt like Kuzmenko 2.0, but worse somehow. He doesn't play Tocchet's style. The signing to begin with made no sense.
Don’t get me wrong I like Bains and I hope he does well but I just don’t see him as a NHL er right now.
I feel bad for Sprong. We know he has talent, but he just hasn't found a home. On the plus side, for those concerned about the NHL expanding again and getting too watered down, there are still a bunch of quality players out there that just can't crack an NHL roster.
Sprong was Kuzmenko 2.0
Tocchet hates these type of players.
surprising, even with Boeser out for at least a few games, that they didn't want to keep him around at least until that's resolved. LIke the other comments have said, Dak or some AHL guys are a priority.
At least Pettersson's defensive intensity is coming out in Tocchet's system. Soon his playmaking will come through in that.
Saving %$ to use for a😢 trade for a 2nd pair D in the making ?
We making room for Dakota Joshua.
It means they believe Lekkerimäki is ready.
I like this move before even knowing what or even if there is another plan Alvin and Rutherford have. It's smart to make moves on players when it's clear the plan for him isn't working and is not helping the team when you can save cap space for that puck moving defenseman that they need in the line up besides Hughs and Barnnstrom
Alvin's deals aren't too bad. 1.5m for Sherwood, 875m for Lankinen etc. The petterson deal is very questionable.
well, the canucks are scoring etc, so hmmmmm
If jessica camble can make sprong into a super star, she'll be a legend twice over
Ah shucks, when I read SURPRISE, I was hoping that Connor Bedard was coming here for Elias Pettersson.
The worst good player is accurate
Dakota Joshua is making his way back? Giving the roster, would be really nice to have him back. With Boeser out for a week or so.
There are a lot of Canucks prospects looking to move into the lineup.
Sprong isn't a Tocchet type player. No contact, no defence, occasionally scores. He'd be invisible come playoffs.
players like sprong don't win you games in the playoffs against other good teams
theirs a reason he's played for 5 teams in 2 years
I'd be very curious to know how often these "future considerations" actually pan out into something of value (and some examples of such cases)…
Man I loved Sprong on the 4th. I don't really get it, he wasnt even that bad on defense.
Nobody says maybe it's just setting up for that desperately needed trade on D
He's so bad defensively, and Tocchet wants a good defensive team. Didn't fit.
Alvin is two steps ahead of all of us
Sprong is a capable offensive threat. Can grab points with very little minutes played. Cap hit is cheap and yet no team wants to resign him. His def is non existent. Keep in mind all the forwards you can think of that play very little defense. Sprong has to be worse than all of them on that side of the ice.
9min vid for a guy who played 9 games is insane.
WTF. This makes no sense.
Is this petty to Columbus?
It's well-known that Sprong is a huge cancer to the locker room…I suspect that's what this is about, especially considering the fact that he's not really a key piece of the team.
Sprong doesn't fit Tocchet's model. Like u said, there are other guys loke Bains, Raty, Lekkerimarki who are full time ready to play and they all can play defensively than Sprong. So Sprong becomes an extra player.
lame
WTH, He was developing well!!
Cap space…..!!!That is great….PA cooking…
makin room with cap to re-sign Lankinen perhaps
Glad to have him back! Bummer we lose Future Considerations tho, that guy is all over the place.
There was an obvious disconnect between Rutherford/Allvin and Tocchet in the offseason. Why pick him up when we all saw Tocchet with Kuzmenko? Now Tocchet is the GM and Sprong is traded. I'd trade Elias Pettersson for Brady Tkachuk to continue to satisfy Tocchet and build a championship team. Brady Tkachuk and JT Miller would be tough to play against. Wimpy soft Swede Elias Pettersson can play in Ottawa and suck some more.
Sprong was a million dollar third or 4th liner that probably of gotten the Canucks 20 goals this season
Canucks definitely dont value him if they trade him to a division rival for free
This makes as much sense as the Podkolzin trade. Not sure what he was thinking with either.
not good
"Future considerations generally amount to absolutely nothing. Hardly a "trade".
