Really enjoying the addition of Robinson. Reminds me of another Martinook. Gives you 100% every shift
It’s weird because Necas is obviously much better than the other 2 but it is still working lmao
KK having an underrated start so far. 2-8/10 and a +10 through 14 games is great, if he can keep up that level of production he’ll more than live up to his contract
*To the tune of Simon and Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson*
And here’s to you, Eric Robinson Raleigh loves you more than you could know Whoa, whoa, whoa God bless your speed, Eric Robinson Necas sends the hockey puck your way Hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey
Necas’s success has come IMO from 1) being given leash by Rod to play east-west and 2) having a line that opens up space to allow him to play east-west
Kotkaniemi has been outstanding this year. He’s hustling like Martinook every shift, winning a ton of board battles and opening up space for Necas. Robinson works extremely well with both as he plays a crash + bang type of forecheck but also has the speed to keep up with Necas. It’s not obvious but Robinson may be the fastest skater Necas has ever played with.
They are the best secondary scoring line in the NHL right now.
This is what you need when your top line doesn’t score or has an off night.
This team might be better than years past without the hype factor behind it. Yes they’re supposed to be good but how good was always the question. Playoff success will determine where this team ranks in the annals of Canes history.
I know it’s early and we inevitably won’t keep up this same pace for the entire season, but it’s funny how dire the “we might not even make playoffs” conversations were this summer given the strength of this start.
Necas hitting his potential/Rod finding ways to let Necas be Necas has been incredible, but KK becoming the legit 2C he’s supposed to have been is HUGE.
On another note, I think the white aways are overhated. Most fans just don’t want to wear white at home (Except the high class fans of Winnipeg).
