  1. They are both free agents after 2025, so if the Giants can turn them into a few solid prospects or save ~15M for improvements via free agency or trades, I say go for it, regardless of how popular they may be.

  2. I wonder what Posey’s plans for a corner OF and 1st are. Yaz makes sense in a trade if we aren’t starting him since he’ll make about 10 mil but 5 mil (projected) for Wade isn’t a bad deal for a bench guy.

I’d assume these will be external since there aren’t clear replacements from within that are ready.

  3. Two clearest positions where there is room for improvement outside of the positions of outright need. Makes sense

  4. Shouldn’t any of them (aside from Chapman, Webb, JHL, Walker and the next generation players) be available, if the value being offered is enough?

  5. Finally some good and sensible news. Trade them to Boston for Yoshida and a relief pitcher.

  6. Still think LWJ + 2 solid prospects (not Eldridge) + 1 lottery ticket prospect gets the Giants one year of Vlad

So maybe this is just the FO planting a flag there? Idk, feels weird broadcasting this, when I’d guess they used to just say these things in closed-door trade discussions

  7. I’m gonna be sad the day Yaz leaves the team but I understand why we would trade him. He deserves a gold glove for all his work over in his corner of the OF. Maybe we can trade him to the Red Sox for draft picks, cash, or prospects? It’d be nice to send him over to a ballpark that means something to his family.

  8. The head says “this makes sense” even if the heart say “🥺”

Yaz and LaMonte are two of my favorite players of the decade, but they’re unlikely to have long-term spots in the roster. They make the 2025 team better and deeper, but it seems likely that Posey & Friends are eyeing 2026 and beyond as likelier years of contention

I still hope they stay and play excellent baseball next year, but I’m already emotionally preparing myself for their departures this winter

  9. Trading LWJ makes no sense with the available options. Even keeping him as a bench only piece is fine.

Trading Yaz makes plenty of sense as we have 4 young OFs to vet in JHL, Ramos, Matos, McCrae

  10. As much as it would suck to lose two guys who are great role players and clubhouse guys, it’s a needed change. One of Farhan’s biggest weaknesses was overcommitting to platooning veterans rather than giving the young guys time to play to figure out who they are. It’s going to be a “reset” year for sure, but I don’t think that removes them from making major moves at all, just the moves they do make should be focused on the long term, not the short term
