So… are we a good football team?

  1. We aren’t bad, and are better than last year, but I struggle with going all the way to good yet.

Competitive is probably the word I’d use. Our 4 losses are all against teams currently in the playoffs if the season ended today, and I think we needed to beat at least one of those teams to cross the barrier into “good”. But we were competitive against the Lions and Bills, so we are almost there!

And maybe with recent adds and guys coming back from injury, we can get into the good category.

  2. I’ll settle for improving each week! Not sure what the ceiling will be but happy at the moment!

  3. Yes, definitely middle of the pack at worst but good enough to steal a win in the playoffs.

  4. We’re middle of the pack, realistically. We beat bad teams, got beat by good teams. I think if we can end up 4-2 in the division we’ll win it at 9-8 or 10/7 and be the 4th seed. That will be beyond any preseason expectations for sure. If we can end up 5-1 in the division and beat Minnesota, then I think there will be no doubt we can call the Cardinals a good team. One thing’s for sure, nobody is looking forward to playing us right now.

  5. It’s like a bad relationship lol. Please don’t hurt me. Every time I have high expectations I get hurt.

  6. We’re a good, well coached team. I wouldn’t say we’re great yet. If I had to rank us right now, I’d say we’re around 11 – 14th in the NFL. In the nfc, you have lions packers 49ers(when fully healthy) eagles that I think should win 7/10 times against us. Every other nfc team is beatable for us at least 50% of the time. I think we’re a pass rusher and a corner or 2 away from being a top contender in the nfc.

I think we’re better coached than most teams in the NFL. Our offense can keep pace with anyone right now. The defense is ok. Although I think against the best teams, it’s where we fall short.

  7. Good, not great. Given this is a rebuild year, though, being good is pretty incredible. Only real downside is that it makes actually rebuilding much harder when your picking, say, 15th or 20th in every round, instead of third or 4th in every round.

The thing I feel should make us most excited, though, is how much of this turn around is related to coaching. Coaching isn’t impacted by the cap, and if we can look this solid with out really investing in our defense, its wild to think what we might be able to do in future years when we actually spend all the cap we keep carrying over.

Anyway, this year, if we make the play offs, we have a punchers chance in the same way we did in 2008. When our offense is clicking, we can go toe to toe with anyone. I very much don’t think we should be favorites to even win a play off game let alone a ring, and its not even remotely given that we even make the play offs, but this team has the ability to beat any body in the same way the Warner/Fitz team did. They also had lots of holes and a below average defense, its why they were famously called the worst team to ever make the play offs, but when you’ve got players whose peak is as high as that team’s was and this teams is, anything can happen if you make it to the dance.

  8. Let’s not be in a hurry to label anything.
We can all agree we are better than last year.
Leave it there and continue the ride.
No need to raise expectations at this time.

  9. We are getting there playing average to below average teams. How bad does everyone want that bills game back we should have won

  10. This year Cards are starting to look like a better version of the 2022 Lions, especially because Kyler is better than Goff.

  11. They are alright, potential playoff team with obvious flaws, mainly on defense. I’d take that though. According to The Ringer power rankings they are alright (12th). Compared to the Niners (7th), Rams (14th), and Hawks (17th).

I’d take that with a huge grain of salt because even last week they had the Cards ranked WORST in the division at around 18th, at least they are recognizing there is some potential there.
