The Scottsdale Scorpions faced the top team in the AFL with their playoff hopes ready to be extinguished with a single loss…and the Scorpions pulled off a win.  They now have a 4-game winning streak, and will need to win their final three plus get help to make the playoffs.  The Giants prospects didn’t contribute much in this win, but we’re that much closer to getting a postseason game.

Fall Stars Game – Giants Report

This past Saturday, the Fall Stars Game was played, which serves as the AFL’s All-Star Game of a sort.  With Bryce Eldridge gone, the Giants had just one representative in the game: pitcher Cale Lansville.  So how did he do?

SCORE: AL 6, NL 5

While each AFL team has a mix of AL and NL teams contributing, the Fall Stars are divided by each Major League.

I was thinking of doing a full recap on Saturday, but so many players played and there was only one Giant, I figured it wouldn’t have been very interesting to most of you.

The AL took an early lead of 5-1 after scoring five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a 3-run home run from Toronto’s Adrian Pinto (Go Scottsdale!).  But the NL scored three runs in the third, and one run in the 6th to tie it up.  But with the game tied in the top of the 9th, Detroit’s #6 prospect Thayron Liranzo (Go Scottsdale!) hit a tie-breaking and game winning home run.

So how did Cale Lansville do?

  • Cale Lansville – 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

As one of ten pitchers to appear in the game for the NL, Lansville only got to face two batters, and there weren’t many pitchers who got a longer time.  But, it was a successful outing, and he was part of a scoreless 7th, holding the tie that the NL had just achieved, so…nothing bad to say!

  1. What are your thoughts on Eldridge? I didn’t see him when I was at AFL, but I heard rave reviews. I worry a bit about the contact skills, but the rest sounds great.

  2. Really appreciate all your work Brute, just wanted to reiterate that because I think you dropped this while writing your ass off 👑
