Are the Seattle Seahawks really in the middle of a rebuild?

Not sure I can get behind this one.

  1. To me the hot-button word 'Rebuild' implies you will intentionally lose games to get better draft picks or trade away pricey players to save cap room for next year. What really happens in most teams is attempts at 'constant improvement.'

  2. I wouldn't say the Seahawks are in win now mode but I wouldn't say they're in a rebuild either. You can still be in a rebuild and also try to win to see what you got for the future. John needs to realize if he's gonna win now then try and win now, if he's gonna try and rebuild go ahead and rebuild but don't do neither. That grey area in the middle is the worst. I think the Seahawks are in the middle.

  3. A rebuild to me is bringing in players that fit the new system isn't that what we have been doing, look Pete turned over the roster completely call it what you want as long as it gets us to a better product on the field that's what counts.

  4. Yes nobody wins with even a bottom 5 o line let alone the worst in thr nfl. And considering John has had 10 years and still has the worst line in the league.. means yes and we won't compete until John is fired because since we need o line.. HOW ABOUT TRADE THE 4TH FOR CAM ROBINSON!! NOT ANOTHER FUCKING LINEBACKER

  5. Chiefs or Lions are gonna win the SB, hawks are not even close to being a contender…. and will probably miss the playoffs again this year.

You are rebuilding and it don't matter if you want to be or don't want to be…… you are actually in rebuild mode. Another 8-8 season is no accomplishment.

How JS still has a job is amazing seeing as how he has given away all his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks on stopgap defensive players or RBs and not on offensive line where they would be using those picks.

  6. They are few truly great teams in a season every year and there are 7 seeds on each side opening an opportunity for a run by lesser teams. John recognizes there's a chance every year and he won't just punt a season away to 'rebuild'. The goal every year is a Super Bowl and that's why you see 30 year old Leo getting an extension because out of all the options he was the best available for the role to give us an opportunity this year as well as the years to come. The Seahawks organization believes there's a chance every year; now whether that comes to fruition or not is another discussion.

  7. Yes signing Leo was a part of the rebuild. Great player, leader, veteran etc. you can't rebuild by losing every game. Need him to help teach the future aka Byron Murphy. They need to get rid of DK.

  8. Having Leonard Williams around is a good move because he’s gonna teach Byron Murphy a lot, which is one of the main reasons to keep him around for a few years

  9. I don't think the Leonard Williams signing proves or disproves whether you are in rebuild or not. Of course no coach or GM goes in saying "we are rebuilding so let's not sign really good players because they are older" but in this case I think him and the contract could be more of a proof of concept sort of deal. Keep the vet and bring in the young guys who can play, learn, and dominate with him in Byron Murphy. The hope in drafting Murphy is that as Leo ages, Murphy will be hitting his prime and the two will essentially swap spots in talent. This then gives you not one, not two, but 3+ years where your DT position isn't one you have to even think about. It's not like coach was like "we're rebuilding let's not compete". It's more likely they were viewing the rebuild as a let's put it all out there to see what our best is and decide who stays and who goes in the long run.

  10. They definitely did not believe that going into this season. Remember when people claimed the floor for this team was 9 wins and the ceiling being 12? We were all excited with the roster and believed they could make a playoff run… and I think there was a similar sentiment inside of the organization

  11. Macdonald was supposed to be the safety whisperer. Kyle Hamilton said as much. He told Devon Witherspoon that he left a lot of plays on the field last year and he was one of the best players he's ever seen. Witherspoon has actually regressed since Macdonald got his hands on him. Woolen got off to a great start. He went from looking like the best DB in the NFL in September, to decent in October, to pretty troubled in November. The longer Macdonald has coached Woolen, the more he has regressed. Love looks good. Bryant may finally be improving. I'm not saying Macdonald isn't good. You have to give him a couple of years. Just not seeing anything yet to make me think "oh yeah, this guy is definitely the guy!" But also not seeing anything to make me think he isn't. It's all just kind of… meh.
