3P Shooting By Team: Celtics are on pace to shatter the NBA record

  1. There’s probably a little more passivity this early on after winning a title. But Pritchard sky rocketing up to 9 3PAs per game is one of the biggest reasons in our 3 point volume increasing even more after last year.

Derrick and Tatum’s volume has jumped up quite a bit.

Efficiency should get back to the norm a little bit though I’d expect. Jaylen is shooting 28.6% from three and Hauser is shooting 31.4%.

  2. Another thing of note is that even though we are shooting even more threes, we are also getting to the line more.

  3. We should have absolutely no issue with this. Like it or not, the analytics are there for a reason. This style of play produced the best offensive rating/efficiency of all time last year.

And it especially works when you have one of the most well rounded and spaced out rosters of all time. I know the early pull up 3’s in a close game can be frustrating at times, but the math is starting to win in the NBA. Time to be at the very top of it.

  4. To me I expect the Celtics % to go way tf up so the fact they’re shooting league average from 3 and are 8-3 is a great sign

  5. Interesting to see Hornets pretty far ahead of the pack as well in 3PAs. They were around league aveage in 3PAs last season. Lee is already having an affect.

Efficiency for the Celtics should improve when JB and Hauser start making more of their shots.

Cavs shooting reminds me of early 2022/23 season when the Celtics started out on a crazy hot shooting streak until they cooled down.

  6. What if they get 1 behind the record and never make another for the rest of the season though?

  7. Genuine question, I mean no hate. Do you enjoy watching this style of play?

It’s clearly successful and works, I know you’ll say we all loved it when the warriors did it. But it felt different, with Steph and klay running off 100 screens.

I feel like whenever I watch the Celtics play and they swing the rock it’s great, but then the result back to Tatum or brown iso shooting contested 3s.

I get the stats side of it, and hey it’s clearly a wining formula. But is it enjoyable to watch?

Please no hate im not trying to antagonise.

  8. Only thing I worry about is in the playoffs, you gotta be able to get buckets inside and need diversity in your attack. The less you rely on 3’s and just use them as a bonus, the better

Betting on 3’s to fall for HALF of your points is kind of wild imo. Good perimeter defenses will really lower that margin and if we suddenly only get 30 ppg from 3’s, we need to find 70+ points in other ways.

Tatum also can’t hit shit rn, so hopefully he doesn’t go ice cold again this postseason & PP always has a hard time in the playoffs + Al has been hit or miss. That leaves White, JB, Hauser and KP as our only reliable guys once the playoffs start. If JT is gonna continue to be SUPER streaky, then he needs to find a way to provide baskets like Jrue does.
