Literally no one should be surprised by this. (link below)

The dudes who have been gripping about this and have been online talking about what a mistake it is to let Buehler go can settle down now. They’re on crack if they thought for one minute that Friedman, Gomes and Doc would just let some other team scoop Buehler up as a free agent.

Is he 100% a Dodger next year?

Not yet.

But I suspect he will be. And he should be.

  1. Buehler has the October hall pass that Kike has, and that CT3 used to have. We need a good deal where we’ll eat whatever during the regular season as long as he turns it the hell up in the playoffs.

  2. This article just quotes a NY Post article(Jon Heyman) that says they’re talking to Buehler. Talking can mean many things, but I do think in FA communication “talking” and “working on” aren’t the same thing. Especially when Heyman is the source. Dude loves using ambiguous language to help fill an article.

  3. I would say the chances Buehler are back next season are better after the postseason than before. I feel Friedman wasn’t comfortable offering the QO to Buehler until he’s certain he’s 100% he’s healthy (from the looks of it, he’s pretty close to it). I see a incentive laden deal, with certain escalators with innings and/or appearences tied to more money, to where he could make what the QO would have paid or more.

  4. Coming off 2 Tommy John surgeries and a shaky season, perhaps the offers are not really pouring in from other teams.
