“The Cardinals are in position to spend, as well, considering they have more cap space ($113.4 million) than any other team in the NFL going into next season except for the New England Patriots, according to Over The Cap.”

  1. The problem here, is that he DESERVES to be paid as the best safety in the NFL. Our team normally doesn’t accommodate that. I hope they sign him on a 5 year no trade extension…

  2. If we’re looking this good now I can only imagine what we’ll look like after spending some money

  3. Conflicted on this. He can get exposed at times in coverage, but the plays he makes at the LoS and in the backfield can’t be understated. But how valuable, really, is a 30-year-old safety whose best asset is tackling? It’s hard to quantify the value of his emotional leadership. But production-wise, you could arguably get more value by investing that money into the front 7, which, if improved, could likely be the ones making those plays in the backfield and at the LoS.

Really tough position for Monti. I wouldn’t fault him for extending Budda. Puts Rabbit in a weird position though with JT on a multi-year deal as a player that basically would need to be cut outright if he were to get moved. We aren’t cash strapped tho, so, even if this isn’t the most efficient use of resources ever, we have wiggle room with all the money we have been saving, so it’s not like it’d put the team in a bad position or anything.

  4. Heart and soul of the team, and given so much. He brings the energy and leadership, even though he’s likely at his peak right now and probably going to trend down by the end of his more expensive contract, 100% worth it imo

  5. 3 years with only first 2 gtd is fine. Falls off right when montis first draft class needs theirs

  6. I would extend Budda, trade Jalen Thompson ( let Rabbit and Budda be our safeties) with pickup up another on draft.
