HOWEVER, it can’t get (much) worse, SO there’s only one way to go – up!

They should be ranked like 40th out of 30 teams
31st?
Can’t wait to see how they fuck up the Crochet deal and then get fleeced for Robert! Good times.
They should drop their asses down to the minor leagues like the euro system
This is ranking is kind of like grading papers: you know the good ones and you know the bad ones, it’s the great mass in the middle that makes you work.
The team will likely have less talent after trading Crochet and potentially Robert. However, they might still end up winning more games since, in addition to performing poorly, they were historically unlucky last season. According to Baseball Reference, their expected record based on runs scored and allowed was 48-114.
Unfortunately, the outlook remains bleak for a while. Steamer projections show only Vaughn, Benintendi, Vargas, and Robert performing above league average offensively. These projections rely heavily on major rebounds, which more modern systems might assign a lower probability.
After Crochet, Davis Martin is projected as our #2 starter with a 4.62 FIP until Noah Schultz is ready. Meanwhile, Justin Anderson is forecasted to be our best reliever, posting a 4.24 FIP. Not great.
2024 made me realize I can still have a fun summer without White Sox baseball in my life. Maybe I’ll tune in again circa 2028, only to be disappointed again by another failed rebuild.
They obviously forgot about the talent Vargas displayed at the end of the year.
The question is is will Stone criticize the fans for being impatient with this next rebuild?
We would be ranked last if they did an MLB power ranking of all teams of the past 125 years.
