  1. I knew Hendricks had the stuff, good to know that Kyle is inspiring & has tons of positive feedback Great work making us feel better on this signing. Well done gentlemen & Thank you. Can't wait until 2025 season

  2. I agree with your comments about our starting pitchers. On the flip side. Our offense needs to learn the importance of putting the ball in play. You don't need any defense for a strikeout 99.9% of the time. This offense is terrible at situational hitting and has been for years.

  3. Sounds like Hendricks has the right mind set the Angels need. Sounds like a positive person! Visualization is more important than you know in sports. There are a rare few in sports that use visualization to their advantage. Hope Hendricks can spread his knowledge to the rest of the team!

  4. To illustrate a possible parallel to the Hendricks signig: In 2022, the Orioles hired Jordan Lyles to eat innings and to mentor the young Kyle Bradish, Tyler Wells and Dean Kremer. The young pitchers made “best dad” t-shirts to honor Lyles. Perhaps the Hendricks signing is a lot to function in a similar way. Knowledgeable and mentor-like, Hendricks may really help the Halos.

  5. I was never sour on this signing, just kind of puzzled. Thank you for doing the deep dive to not only clear up the reasons why Hendricks was signed, but to also point out just how positive his presence will be to the team. I have injected myself with Hopium and am ready to ride high through the 2025 season!

  6. The big problem with Hendricks (besides the fact that his FIP has been close to 5.00 in 3 of the last 4 years) is that the Angels' are stuck with him on the roster, unless/until he performs so badly, they cut him. But what if he is lousy with an occasional good outing? What do you do then? I'd rather the Angels had used the $2.5 Million to get one or two bullpen guys that are still young enough to have options (to the minors) and are available because of inconsistency. Start them at AAA, and if one of them gets hot.. bring him up… and if he fails, send him back. With Hendricks you have ZERO flexibility.

  7. If I understand your argument in favor of the Hendricks' signing is that it's worthwhile to spend $2.5 million AND expend a roster spot for an assistant pitching coach? I disagree.

  8. Honestly, this sounds like the exact pitching leader Detmers specifically needs. Much like d'Arnaud is an investment in O'Hoppe. Perhaps this is an investment in Detmers and the other young guys too.

  9. I just think that if you're bringing in a veteran to teach your young guys, maybe bring one that can actually pitch. Crossing my fingers for a Blake Snell or Max Fried and a bullpen that doesn't blow 40 games.

  10. Stop trying to make this signing cool, it’s not.
So we’re just going to sign players at the backend of their mediocre career to babysit our “young core” instead of trying to compete?
What a joke this team is.
