Washington doesn't have its clear-cut cornerstone star yet. Wednesday showed why — either by internal development or external acquisition — they need to get one to get this rebuild moving.
The piece also includes maybe the funniest interview moment of the season between me and Jordan Poole.

I don’t think any other team has a guy like him
Yeah kinda don’t agree with ya there. You can build around Poole.
We are still rebuilding and this upcoming draft is stacked.
The Anthony Gill disrespect must stop
Bruh this is like complaining we don’t have a Jokic after playing the Nuggets. Wemby is a once in a lifetime prospect.
Haha what? There is only one Wemby but this ain’t tennis, this is a team sport and finally since 2012 we’re building a team I can be proud of. Happy for the Spurs but super happy for what’s growing in DC

We have a Bub
One ping pong ball away man
Although I don’t disagree with you, it is YEAR 2 of our rebuild, we have to be a little patient.
Capture the Flagg
Why do you need a corner stone star? Give me 5 guys that play well together where teams can’t account for all positions. Instead of 1 ball dominant guy, give me role players who know their positions. (Btw, everyone on the team can’t be a three point shooter… It’s lazy offense and we can’t get to the free throw line. Stop it!)
The “star” thing is overblown.
I mean, they said we are still in the “tear down” phase. If they are true to their word, 75% of this roster won’t be here in two years.
A bad rebuilding team needs to get a star? How insightful
He’s a freak of natue of course, but there are a lot of players in the league that could have gone off like that from 3 on any given night,
And that wasn’t a bad strategy, let Wemby get his and make somebody else beat you. Which is what happened. But the Wizards were still in that game.
Wemby is a generational talent, only the Spurs were so lucky to have him and Duncan. I think Alex Sarr if he gets aggressive can be close to Wemby level. Obviously Sarr needs to work on his offense, but he has the right idea on defense.
They will draft flagg and then the wizards will have a young core
