  1. My takeaways: Lekkermaki was really good tonight, showing lots of promise. Pettersson also had another solid night. Good defensively and I also thought and was alright offensively.

    Good eye from the coaching to take away that one goal too. At the time it was a big thing because we had a small chance to come back, but after the fourth goal it was kinda over from there.

    We can’t play games like that though. Sure the third was solid(ish) but 5 shots through 2 periods isn’t good enough.

    Oh well. Forget about it. On to the next.

    Y’all shouldn’t be this emotionally invested. Like damn… Bad games are going to happen. We are still in a pretty good position and have time to work it out.

  10. I don’t understand how we can play so well one game, and so awful the next game. Consistency is going to be a big gap for us if we want to be anywhere near the playoffs this season.

  12. Atleast were playing like shit early in the season. Don’t wanna play good at the start then plummet b4 playoffs

  14. since they play so well, I propose they live in the hotels until they win consistently at home.

  16. Here is the plan to improve our home record:

    – Every Canucks fan attending the game should wear the opponent team’s jersey or merchandise and cheer whenever the opposing team scores have scoring chances.

    – Eliminate the goal horn for home goals, only play the horn on opposing team goals

    – Even the coaches have last change, treat it like we don’t and always throw our players out on the ice before the opposing team

    – Players should stay at an hotel the night before the game and take a team bus to the arena.

    This is now a simulation of a road game and we should start winning at home.

  19. Hughes and Hronek were terrible tonight. Just ignore the TOI and the fact they were clearly gassed.

  20. Doing that thing again where they learn lessons after a blowout, play solid, then get blown out again so next game should be good.

    Horrific inexcusable effort.

    So many tragic home games. Time for a shake up. I think it obviously has to be Hoglander and that’s unfair. But they need a kick in the ass.

    It’s like they are back to the fire the coach speed run we know and love.

    Zero urgency. Zero pace. Zero physicality.

    Cool to see 23’s first goal.

    Incredibly inspiring getting to see and hear from many of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

  27. Look, when we play Tocchet style hockey we win… but there was never any support for our fore/back checks. That’s not Tocchet hockey. Need more buy in.

    – Oilers 7-3
    – Islanders 5-2

  29. Honestly I’m struggling to not blame Tochett at this point. Yes the team has genuine issues in terms of weak players. But also the whole team is just not playing to the level they’re capable of on a regular basis. When players like Miller and Hughes even are struggling and making stupid passes, is it not a coaching issue? I just don’t believe in this new system tbh.

  31. not really Tocchets fault, I’m was honestly surprised last season how he managed to at least keep the team motivated for the whole season. Same core group of guys pulled the same shit with our Bruce and Green anyways, play motivated for a bit (Bruce win streak) and then stink it up for a prolonged period of time afterwards. Dudes just can’t seem to motivate themselves past a certain point. We can’t even afford to have Hughes not going because the team basically cannot do anything offensively if Quinn doesn’t generate it out of nothing.

    6 shots in the first 2 periods, that’s straight up pathetic.

    Only positive is that we still have 8 wins despite how bad we’ve been playing, but you still want the team to have good habits, not pull this on the regular.

  33. I know Allvin has been playing the game cap game pretty hard to maximize accrual of space but maybe it’s finally time to slow down and let the lines develop chemistry. Must be tiring with all of the line juggling. Thrilled with what we are seeing with Lekki already! Future is bright. 🤩

  34. Why on God’s green earth do you not put Joshua, Blueger, and Garland together at some point tonight? They were our most consistent line the majority of last season. Or at least Joshua and Garland.. they have just as much chemistry as Boeser and Miller

  36. Such a strange team this one. Compare this game to the one we played against LA. Hard to explain what’s going on between the ears in this team.

  38. Bag skate them. Everyday until the next game. Then do it again until the next game.
    Hughes, Sherwood, Garland and a couple of others don’t need to participate. This was the same as the Oilers game. Zero. Fucking. Effort. Except for a couple of guys.

  40. Halfway through the 2nd period and Canucks had 6 shots on net. How is that even possible?

    NYI is a good team, but not even a favourite.

  43. Real question: how do you guys cope with this? My first time following the team and hockey, and I’m not happy with the ups and downs. Is this normal?

  44. Have to put Joshua/Blueger/Garland back together now so that we have a matchup line to lean on, because Miller is fighting something and playing some of his worst hockey lately. We’re going to have to shelter him if we’re not shutting him down.
