  1. I keep hearing commentators talk about International pool money. But these deals are done years in advance now and the player pools are mostly used up. The top players have deals in place at 14. It is also very corrupt, Dominican scouts get kickbacks from the programs that the player are signed from. It is big money, and the player actually gets less than half when all is said and done. It is an ugly side of baseball and nobody is willing to be the whistleblower to stop it. It is one reason teams want an international draft.

  2. This offseason is going to be a wacky one. There is a lot of options out there and you have to trust Stearns to make most of the right moves. I just hope they don't blow up the majority of their farm system to make those deals.
